I'm new to the notesfile. I have two cats, Maxwell and Baxter,
both male gray and white. We recently bought a cat bed at the Marlboro
cat show. They both love it, and really fight over it. So now,
I'm trying to locate another one to stop the fighting but can't find
any place which sells them. The bed is round, has sides about 5 inches
high which are flexible, and is made of a very soft fuzzy material.
It's also washable. I hope this is a clear description. Does any
one know of where I could get one. I've checked the back of Cat
Fancy and haven't seen it there and I don't think there's a cat
show in the area too soon. I live in Marlboro.

    Thanks for your help.

Try another cat show or a pet supply catalog. Breeder's Pride sells
pet beds but they are expensive. I have also seen nice ones in
the pet supply section of Caldor at very reasonable prices.

You may also check with Jo Ann Cordesbro (who is currently out of the
office for the week). I checked back in previous notes, and found
out that the beds she *makes* are W-O-N-D-E-R-F-U-L. I am currently
waiting for one. Jo is located at: YOSMTE::CORDESBRO_JO

A pet store near here (no help to you, it's in Calif.) carries
things like this, so I would call up local pet stores. In the
meantime a nice pile of towels nearby would be a consolation
    prize.

They're really easy to make. In fact, I bought one made out of
cotton for the cats at a cat show and then copied the design and
made one out of fake fur stuffed with polyfil. The one I made
is bigger and the cats ignore the one I bought now. Both Isis
and Dundee will sit on one side and patty-paw the other side
    for minutes at a time.
I think you can also purchase them from Tree House Animal
Foundation - they sell things to help fund the shelter - and
the Petagrees catalog has them. I've promised a copy of my
Petagrees catalog to someone already, but if I ever remember to
bring it in I'll copy the appropriate page and order form for
    you.

2257.7Consumer Pets in WestboroGEMVAX::GRANTWed Mar 01 1989 15:1310
You could try Consumer Pets in Westboro. It is in the shopping
mall that has a Bradlees and a Stop and Shop . . . I forget the name
of the mall, but it is right on Route 135. Consumer Pets has a variety
of cat beds, and is willing to order something if they don't have it
    on hand.

Don't know if they have exactly what you are looking for, but it's
    worth a try.

You probably bought the bed you got from Haddleigh House at the
    Marlboro show.

Martha Kruger of Haddleigh House will ship items. I'm not sure
how she handles the payment aspect, but at $10.00, the beds from
her are the lowest price around.

The number for Haddleigh House is: 207-676-3309

2257.9watch those pricesYOSMTE::CORDESBRO_JOMon Mar 06 1989 20:0711
I have found the Pedigrees Catalog to be highly overpriced. Be
sure to comparison shop if you are planning to purchase something
from them. Not only do you pay more, you also have to pay shipping.

Example: A tokyo cage from Pedigrees $189.95 + shipping (if memory serves
me), a tokyo cage from a cat show vendor $125.00 no shipping.

Seems they were awfully high on carriers and such too.

Thanks Jo, I never really compared their prices. In fact, I've
never actually bought anything from them, but I love to look at
the catalog. I'd probably only buy things I couldn't get anyplace
    else.

I love to look at the catalog too. I really like it that they tell
you the name of the animal in the demo pictures, kinda makes it
    seem more homey.

re: .11 Ya, I love the naming too. I always take time to look
at the cat or dog a little more closely, rather than at the product.

Thanks for all your responses. I'm planning to take a trip this
weekend to Consumer Pets in Westboro. Hopefully they can order
me a bed. I tried calling Haddleigh House but either got a recording
or the number was busy. Do you know the address? Maybe I could
write them if Consumer Pets can't help.

    Thanks.

Don't be discouraged if you can't get Martha at HH - a good time
to call is between 9 and 11 am - she is off to cat shows most
weekends - from anywhere between Thursday and Sunday nights.
