41.0. "Loving home needed" by FRSBEE::QUIRIY () Sun Oct 07 1984 03:45

"Softy" aka "Wedge-head" or "Fang-face"

Softy is an 11 or 12 year old male neutered Chocolate point Siamese. He
is a big kitty, weighing approximately 10 pounds. He is very affectionate.
Softy has lived with my sister and her family for most of his years, after
spending a short time in the home of her father in law. The father in law
was not equipped with the personality to appreciate the antics of a kitten
and it's the general opinion that Softy was traumatized while he lived
there. We are looking for a new home for him because my brother in law has
developed increasingly severe allergic symptoms and he is trying to
eliminate those things in his environment he reacts to. I'm not taking him
because I live with these people.

Softy is very good with children. He has alot of patience, and will tolerate
being picked up any which way, which is generally how a small child will do
it. He needs loving care and attention. He will let you know if he wants to
be petted by a gentle "tap" on the arm or leg, or by little love bites. He
is vocal when he wants attention or has a request, such as "open the door,"
or "I want to go out," etc. He has been an indoor/outdoor cat, and I would
prefer a new home where he will enjoy the same freedom. But, I think he would
be a happy indoor cat if he was loved and appreciated by his human caretakers.
To be honest, he is very slow moving and doesn't cross the road too quickly,
so if he was to be an indoor/outdoor cat in his new home, this should not be
located on or near a busy road. A dead end street would be ideal.

He has one "quirk," for want of a better term - the cause of this "quirk" has
eluded the vet - he vomits. We assume it's "nerves." He gobbles up his dry
food too fast and then sometimes upchucks almost immediately afterwards. This
may sound gross, but it's really not too bad, as it's not digested matter - if
you catch my drift. It's practically in it's original form.

Softy is not a very active cat. He spends most of his time just being lazy or
napping in a sunny or soft place. He lives with two other cats, one his mate
and the other his son. We are looking for homes for all three - see a later
note for discussion of these other two. In years past, Softy was rather
aggressive towards these two and is now "low man on the totem pole." He
appears to crave human attention more than interaction with the other two
cats, and for this reason I don't think he'd miss them and would do just fine
separated from them. I think he'd do best as an "only child."

FRSBEE::ELLIOTT would be glad to give a character reference. Anyone who wants
more info or would like to meet Softy, please let me know by mail. Thanks.

My siamese, Kismet, also sometimes vomits after gulping down dry cat food.
This never happens with canned, however. Maybe its a quirk of the breed?

Hope you find a home for Softy. He sounds wonderful. If I hadn't reached
critical mass as for as pets are concerned (4 cats, 1 dog, and 2 kids), I'd
be interested.

Good luck!

thanks for the good luck wish - no interested parties have yet responded !
The other two cats are also siamese and they don't vomit. Their personalities
are all so incredibly unique - I guess I'm saying this because I think of
Softy's problem as "nerves" - the result of a sensitive psyche, or some such.
He is a lover !

I might, only might, be interested?

Mail a reply to GOSSIP::FOX or RDCUK1::JFOX.

I tried Nmailing you a reply, but I haven't been able to get through to
your node (for quite some time now). I also hadn't read any of the other
notes and replies and that time was only guessing that the UK in RDCUK1::
meant United Kingdom. But you mention it somewhere else. Alas ! I and
Softy are over the pond...

Thanks anyway

Due to an 'awkward domestic' situation, I have no choice but
to find a home for my six-seven month old tiger kitten. She's
black and gray, affectionate, 'clean', healthy and exhibits
the typical lovable kitten habits. To inquire, send mail to
    	med::pcote.
