561.0. "Help with a vendor called "Options" please" by PUZZLE::CORDESJA () Tue Apr 28 1987 00:27

I need some help from those of you that live on the east coast.
I am having a problem with a cat show vendor by the name of Options.
They were out here last August at a show and I ordered a sweatshirt
from them. I charged the twenty dollar fee to my Visa card and
was told that the shirt should arrive within two weeks.

I thought two weeks sounded like a very quick delivery so I waited
about six weeks before I did anything. The address on my Visa receipt
is 159 Salem Avenue, Port Ewen NY, 12466. I wrote them a letter
on October 16th 1986 asking them to either send me the shirt or
credit my Visa account. The twenty dollar fee had been charged
to my account on August 25th 1986 (the day after the show).

I didn't receive an answer so I wrote to them again at the beginning
of December. This time I asked them to please refund my money by
crediting my Visa account. I received no answer so I tried to call
them and was told that there was no Options listed for the city
    of Port Ewen NY.

I have been trying to get some leads on this company since last
August. Just last friday I received my first letter back in the
mail- marked returned to sender!!! It has been six months since
I wrote it! I expect my second letter back in another month and
    so on.

I really want the sweatshirt though. It was one of the longer styled
ones, pink, and it said "After the cat, Honey, you come first" on
the front. Does anyone out there know of this vendor? They sell
shirts and sweatshirts with cute little sayings on them. They also
sell things like childrens cloths and mens and womens undergarments
that have cats and sayings on them.

I would appreciate any help I could get with this. They were at
the TICA show in San Rafael CA on August the 23rd and 24th.

I don't know the vendor, but I do have a suggestion on how to get
    your money back.

I ordered headlight covers for my car (over the phone) and charged
it to my VISA. After waiting 4 months, nothing came. I called the
800 number -- it had been disconnected. I did have the company name
and city, so I called the local Better Business Bureau there (it
was in Detroit, MI - I live in Wash, DC) and received their papers.
I filled them out and sent them in - also with a letter and copy
of the Better Business Bureau papers to my VISA asking them to remove
the charge, since I never received the merchandise. The next VISA
bill, the charge was removed, and about a month after the letter
got to the Better Business Bureau, I got my headlight covers, and
the charge to my VISA! Oh well, I DID get my merchandise!

Good luck finding out where Options has gone.

561.2You CAN get the swaetshirt.LAIDBK::SHERRICKMolly :^)Tue Apr 28 1987 20:559
Don't worry about not being able to get a sweatshirt like that.
I've seen them at LOTS of shows. In fact Debbie B. and I saw that
very one in Colorado Springs this past weekend. We were both tempted
to buy it, but decided it may be a bit too close to the truth for
Karl and Steve ;^). That design is carried by many show vendors,
so my suggestion is to get your VISA charge lifted and try again
with a different (more local) vendor. Good Luck!!!!

Have you contacted the cat club that sponsoered the show? They might
be able to tell you the name of the person that ran the booth.Options
could be a small home business (thus no business phone). Something
else that I would try is to contact the Attorney General's office,
    the consumor complaint division.

I did contact the club that sponsored the show but they didn't have
a phone number for Options, only the address. Oh Well.

Molly- if you see that shirt again buy it for me and I will pay
you back. I haven't seen one like it since last August!

561.7This is it for sure!DONJON::SCHREINERGo ahead, make me PURRR...Wed Apr 29 1987 20:2717
Well, Jo, I reached her!!! The person I contacted to get her phone
number gave me both her old number and her new number....apparently
what they thought was her old number was her new number and visa
versa....so....here's the number, and I called it, got Pat's son
who told me that Pat was the person for Options...so....after all
    that, here's the right number:

    518-287-1268

Options is owned by Pat Mitchell.

I have dealt with Pat many times, and she's a very sweet person,
but not real business minded and a bit forgetful at times...but
her hearts in the right place.

Well... I tried once and got the wrong number (my fault, I misdialed)
then I did dial it right but there was no answer. I will keep trying
and let you know what happens.

    Hallaluyah!!

I got a hold of Pat Mitchell of Options last night and explained
the problem to her and she said not to worry, she will take care
of it right away! The shirt that I asked for may be out of stock
at this time, she is going to call me back today and let me know.

I couldn't have accomplished this without the help of all my fellow
noters. Thanks to all of you. I am finally going to get my shirt.
