4291.0. "THANKS FROM OUR HOUSE TO YOU ALL" by TYGON::WILDE (illegal possession of a GNU) Mon Jan 07 1991 17:28

over the holidays, while I was on vacation at home, our oldest cat, Tabitha
became very ill with the kitty flu...vomiting continually, followed by very
dangerous diarrhea. I knew immediately that I had to stop the vomiting and
get the diarrhea under control or I would lose her. I rushed to the vets to
get medication...and asked them to give her subcutaneous fluids to make up
for what she had lost. I then began treating her. I had the vomiting under
control in a few hours, and with twice daily treatments of kaopectate (3 ml.
each dose), I had the diarrhea under control in 12 hours...but she would not
eat or drink.

If it had not been for all that I have learned from noters in this conference,
past and present, I would not have been able to save Tabs...but, thanks to
your questions and answers over the years, I knew how to force-feed her baby
food, and I knew enough to borrow the necessary equipment to give her
subcutaneous fluids each day, and over a week and a half, I brought her back
to an interest in eating on her own...and living.

I cannot begin to tell you how much it meant to me to see her walk into the
living room and upon spying a catnip mouse, drop onto her side and rub her face
all over that mouse...a cat-size celebration of life. My one and only
Christmas present...the only one I needed.

So, thank you all for your help in bringing a real Christmas to my home...
keep up the good work! Tabs is 16 and will make 17 thanks to you all.

Yes, this conference has helped me many times to deal with my babies
    when they are sick.

I'm glad too, that they are there to give mental support when needed
    to save my sanity.

That truly is a great Xmas present.
