2096.0. "CAT CARE" by FRICK::NATES () Wed Dec 28 1988 14:11

    TO ALL WHO TRAVEL AND HAVE CATS:

    I have just discovered the most wonderful cat care service!
    Recommended by a friend, we first used them this past summer while
    on vacation. We didn't like the idea of putting our handsome tabby
    boys in the kennel for 12 days, plus they were just kitties at the
    time. So we called Kajan Cat Care Service. And what a service
    they provide!

    They come into the home to care for your cats on a daily basis.
    They will play with them for a least an hour, make sure their box
    is clean, feed them, as well as water your plants and get in your
    mail. Before we left they came in to meet the boys and find out
    any emergency info (vet, where we were, etc.), where everything
    was, and what the boys liked best (i.e. an ice cube in their water
    bowl!). They even vacuumed the house the day we got back because
    boys will be boys!

    We just felt so much more at ease knowing they weren't uprooted
    and left in a cage all day long. We highly recommend Kajan and
    have used them for other shorter trips we have taken since
    the summer. Plus they love our handsome boys!

    Kajan Cat Care Service is in Westborough. Ask for either Karen
    or Janet - 508-839-9169 or 508-898-2922. Tell them Buttermilk and
    Biscuits send you.

    I, too, have used Kajan Cat Care Service. I was very pleased with
    the love and care they gave my kitties.

    They did exactly what was mentioned in .0, as well as feed the fish,
    and leave me a little "diary" of what had gone on each day that
    I was on vacation. I'll tell you, when I came to the part about
    how the paper towels were all unrolled and strewn through the kitchen
    and living room by the kitties, I almost felt as if I had been there!

    I was really pleased with Kajan Cat Care, and highly recommend them.

    what type of rates do they charge?
2096.3$$$GEMVAX::GRANTWed Dec 28 1988 16:238
    When I used their services last summer, it was $10.00 per day for
    weekdays, and $14.00 per day for weekends. But check with them;
    their rates may have changed since then.

    Well worth the price!

   In Chicago, I use:

   Chicago Housesitting and Pet Care. They're great and not that
   expensive. For cats: $8.00 a visit. When I'm on the road I have
   them come in twice a day. They tell me they fight over who gets
   to take care of Orpheus.

    Sounds like a friendly neighbor would be cheaper!!
2096.6Southern NH sitter soughtGRYHND::BROWNcat_max = current_cats + 1Tue Dec 04 1990 13:3417
I need a pet-sitter and would like to be able to have some personal
recommendations, can anyone help me? I've also asked this in CANINE since
we have an "integrated" menagerie but have only had one reply so far -- maybe
FELINE will work better!

I live in Wilton, NH which is in the southern part of NH, about 20 miles west
of Nashua. This is rather out of the range covered by most of the services
mentioned here in FELINE, but somebody must take care of country cats.

All suggestions greatfully received, I really need to find someone for the
Christmas holidays or I'll be in BIG TROUBLE with my parents (we're supposed
to go visit them, but can't just abandon our "kids").

Thanks in advance,

Jan

    Jan,

    I recruited my own Cat Sitter by calling the local vet and asking to
    speak to their AHT. I offered her $10 a day to come twice a day while
    I was gone. She accepted. That was about 4 years ago and she is still
    sitting for me when I need her. She gets more than $10 a day though.
    It has worked out beautifully since she is a licensed AHT and is very
    thorough in checking out the cats while I am away. She picks up the
    slightest sneeze and reports it back to me.

    Only problem...she doesn't do dogs!!! I have to get a neighbor to take
    care of Annie.  :^)

        I'm posting this on behalf of a friend that sits for pets...
    She will take care of your pets while you're gone in the comfort of
    their own home in the Stow/Hudson/Sudbury area of Massachussetts.
    She takes care of our four fine furry feline friends when we are away.

        You can reach Jean at (508) 568-1020. She has references (other
    than me!) available.
