2454.0. "FREE KITTENS" by RELYON::BALBONI () Fri May 12 1989 13:07

    My manager has 3 kittens to give away. He can not keep them.
    He has 1 week to give them to a good home. If they do not find
    a home their hame will be the Humane Society. If anyone is
    interested please contact:

    			Norm Smith
    			RELYON::NORM  or RELYON::SMITH

    			DTN:  240-6449

    I believe he has 1 blond, 1 black, 1 multi colored. Please do
    these kittens a favor and call.

    			Thanx.

    N.H. area.
2454.3Do you know what the sexes are? KOBAL::LANDRYFri May 12 1989 14:553
  Does he know what the sexes are of the cats? Also, how old are they?
  I am looking for a female kitten to adopt and live in Nashua...
2454.4More info on the kittiesATSE::BLOCKBack in the High Life againFri May 12 1989 15:248
	I just talked to Norm; they're 6 weeks old and shorthaired, and he
	doesn't know what the sexes are. I'm going to take a look at them
	tonight or this weekend; how hard is it to determine gender on a
	6-week-old kitten (should probably be its own topic!)?

2454.5Recent request...HAMSTR::MASONExplaining is not understandingFri May 12 1989 15:444
    There is also a note in here for someone looking for two SH females,
    preferably littermates.

2454.6Sexes...CGVAX2::JOHNSON_SFri May 12 1989 15:5817
    I told Beverly about this note. She apparently wrote in w/ her
    request for 2 females- hadn't heard anything from the people at
    that time.

    Also, in refernce to note 2454.3- sex shouldn't be too hard to
    determine at 6 wks old. I got my male at 5 1/2 wks and his male
    parts were very apparent the very next day. I had wanted a female,
    but love him anyway! Mine is long haired also- so a little harder
    to see those differences.

    Another way to tell is to feel that area. Sounds awful, but I guess
    it works. I didn't need to do that nor could I have as my little
    Willy (now) is/was too quick to squirm away. I could hardly get
    his tail up.

    Much luck!

2454.7Real-time noting at its most confusing!ATSE::BLOCKBack in the High Life againFri May 12 1989 17:1915
	I'm the person who wrote the request for 2 shorthaired females.
	I'm also the person who wrote .3. I saw .0 within an hour of
	its posting, and I had already contacted Norm before anyone else
	sent me mail or called to let me know.

	Sonia, thanks for the reassurance about determining sex; I didn't
	expect it to be that difficult, but I've seen a lot of notes here
	saying "we *think* they're...", so I got worried.

	Given the response I've gotten since I posted 2452, I doubt it'll
	be long before we have a pair of pretties amusing and bemusing us!

2454.8looking for calico kitty(s)NETMAN::DISMUKEChocolate lips don't lie...Mon May 15 1989 18:216
    I'm confused....

    Are the kitty's relocated or not? Is the multicolored still available?

2454.9The multi is gone; genders are now knownATSE::BLOCKBack in the High Life againMon May 15 1989 19:1713
	I just got mail from Norm. The black (male) and blond (female)
	are still available. I didn't get there over the weekend; I'll
	probably stop over tonight.

	I've gotten lots of mail re: available kitties (thanks, all!), so
	I know we'll have a couple soon. If somebody out there is looking
	specifically for a blond female, let me know, and I'll defer on
	this one; color isn't that important for me (though I admit being
	partial to grey tabbies, that having been my first kitty type!).

2454.10Do they have more fun?WITNES::HANNULAWell, you see, I have this cat.......Tue May 16 1989 14:383
    What color is a blond?

    Not looking.  Just curious.
2454.11Only one of these leftATSE::BLOCKBack in the High Life againTue May 16 1989 15:1424
	I would call it a tawny color -- sort of beige. Very pretty. And
	she's *OURS*!! There are faint tabby markings, which I suspect will
	darken as she gets older.

	I fell in love with this kitty (tentatively named Chryalis, but I
	think she may change her mind), and took her home last night. Like
	a space cadet, it didn't register at the time that she was awfully
	fluffy -- I think she's a long hair. But she is a beauty, so I
	guess we'll cope. Lots of Seldane!

	The only one left is the all-blck male. I think he's fluffy too,
	but I carefully didn't pay too much attention to him (I would've had
	to have him too!). The momcat is definitely shorthaired, so it's
	possible that he is too. For those who care, Norm is planning to
	have her spayed as soon as the last kitten is gone.

	Meanwhile, we're seriously reconsidering the decision to get 2 cats
	right away. We may just let this one have all our attention for now,
	and get another kitten for her to play with next year. Decisions,
	decisions!

    re: 11

    Remember, it will be easier to add another kitten now, when she's
    real young, and hasn't adjusted to "owning" her own home. It will
    be more difficult next year, and she'll have to spend a year home
    alone all day!!!

2454.13Creams really do have more funYOSMTE::CORDESBRO_JOTue May 16 1989 17:393
    Blond is probably cream. I have Tilly who is a cream tabby with
    white feet, and Monroe who is a cream tabby shorthair.

2454.14I wanna be home playing with her!ATSE::BLOCKBack in the High Life againTue May 16 1989 18:1516
	Okay, cream. It's more the color of a rubber band or parchment
	paper, but it doesn't really matter. Maybe her name is CreamPuff?
	She's fluffy enough. I'll ask her tonight...

	The issue of introducing a second kitty now vs later has been
	discussed as part of this whole thing. Kevin's experience in
	the past has been that the established cat is ticked for a week
	or two, then discovers that kittens are fun to play with, and
	all is fine.  Having seen other situations in here, I don't know;
	he seems pretty good at training kitties, and he's had quite a
	bit of experience.

	We'll see...

2454.15Still 1 left...ATSE::BLOCKMore TLA's? NFW!Tue May 23 1989 15:238
	Norm mentioned in mail today that the black male is still available;
	I guess the "1 week or they go to a shelter" was a bit stronger than
	reality (and I'm a sucker, but Chrysalis is a great kitty and I don't
	care!). They were born on March 30.

    Please could we have an update on the little black kitty. Over
    here (UK) they are considered lucky and black kittens are much in
    demand. However, I believe that the opposite applies in the States.

    Did he get a home?
