1749.0. "Humor: what a cat does." by GLINKA::GREENE (Cat Lady) Thu Sep 08 1988 14:47

I came across the following cute_but_true quote:

"I don't know what the cat can have eaten. Usually I know
exactly what the cat has eaten. Not only have I fed it to
the cat at the cat's keen insistence, but the cat has thrown
it up on the rug and someone has tracked it all the way over
on to the other rug. I don't know why cats are such habitual
vomiters. They don't seem to enjoy it, judging by the sounds
they make while doing it. It's in their nature. A dog is
going to bark. A cat is going to vomit."

copied without permission from The Penguin Dictionary of
Modern Humorous Quotations, compiled by Fred Metcalf, 1988, p.44
where it was reprinted (presumably *with* permission) from
Roy Blount, Jr., in ESQUIRE, 1984.

    PENNY:
I just wanted to let you know I loved your quote regarding cats
and their curious habit of regurgitating. I gave a copy to my boss
(non-cat person) to show her that I am not the only one you talks
about cat vomit. Of course, her concern may be that I do it at
    the lunch table... Bon appetite!

    Still laughing,
    Anne
