| Is there any way you could get a sample? In which case you could
try it to find out if your cats will eat it, and 2) you could read
the label and compare it to the Science Diet that you are now feeding.
I've given up trying to change P, O & E's food. Too much of a hassle.

| I don't know how good they are about free samples just for the
sake of it, but when you place your first order with them, they
send you a free small bag of the food. (I don't know how many cans
they send if that's what you prefer.)
I don't have cats right now (hubby's allergic), but I have tried Perform
for dog food. I was not satisfied with either the food or the service.
Here's what happened: I saw an ad, and wanted to try the Perform dog food.
I have two good-sized dogs (65 lbs each), so I thought that if I ordered
a a small bag of the food (4 lbs.) and they also sent me a free 4 lb bag,
I'd have enough for several meals, and would be able to see if the dogs
liked it and how Misha's sensitive tummy would deal with this particular
food.
So I placed an order (with my Visa card). The operator was very friendly,
informed, and talkative. I was surprised, but they shipped each bag
seperately, even though they were part of the same order. At breakfast
time the next morning, I started to open a bag of the new food, and noticed
that the two bags looked a bit different. Then I noticed that one of the
bags was actually cat food. Oops. So I called Perform, explained what
happened, and they said they'd send me a bag of dog food to replace the
one of cat food. I asked if they'd like me to return the cat food to them, and
they said to give it to a friend who owned a cat. (I gave it to a humane
society instead). A while later I got the dog food, but then about
6 weeks later, I found out that they'd charged me for the second bag
(which was supposed to be a free sample!). Now I know not to trust my
Visa card number to those people.
As for the food, I wasn't really satisfied. It's expensive, but
not as good as Iams (Lower % protein, etc). Also, the pieces of food
were so small that the dogs kept choking on them (probably not a problem
for cats, though). (Since then, I've received junk mail from them saying
that the pieces of food are now slightly larger due to customer comments
and that their pricing structure is changed. Now, the prices are slightly
lower, but they then add on a charge for shipping, making the total
cost even more expensive than before if you only order small or medium
quantities at a time.)

Thanks for sharing your experience. I think I'll continue to hit
the pet store for Science Diet. Even though mail order would be
more convenient, I don't need the hassles of billing/shipping problems
in place of a trip to the store. At least my trips to the store
are a sure thing--then I get the added benefit of visiting with
the nice owners. When I get back to the vets, I'll see if they
have a sample. Until then it's the "same old thing" for Jasper.

| I just received a case of Perform from a friend of mine who has
a vet's license but isn't practicing. apparently they send samples
to vets and if you have a regular vet you can check to see if they
have any. my cat is really finicky and unpredictable but he seemed
to like the one can i've given him so far. I haven't tried the
dry food yet, but , like people, cats are so individual in their
taste!! Good luck.
