3887.0. "Beautiful Black Long-hair needs new adoptive family." by AICADC::DOLLIVER (Watching my life go by ...) Thu Aug 09 1990 15:18

Kuji is a very attractive black domestic long-haired male cat with striking
gold-green eyes. Kuji is neutered and declawed, and is very affectionate.
We adopted Kuji about two months ago from a neighbor whose job required
them to be out of town every weekend. They couldn't bear to leave Kuji
alone so much, so we agreed to take him. He is about two years old, has
had all of his shots (we were told), eats well, and seems very healthy.

Since we already had two cats (mother Isabelle and her daughter Button)
we knew that there could be problems with them getting along, but we
decided to give it a try anyway. Well ... while Button and Kuji are good
pals, Isabelle has not taken to him well at all. She hisses alot, won't eat
if he's anywhere around, and has even been taking it out on Button lately.

Poor Kuji is the victim in all of this, since he just ambles around with
his mild curiosity and gets hissed at and startled out of his skin. We
truly wish that we could keep him, but we have decided that we are just
not going to be able to make it work :-{.

So, if you would like to adopt our feline friend Kuji, please let us know.
We will miss him, but we are sure he will be happier with you (and without
Isabelle ;-}). We live in Stow, MA.

PS. The first thing we did when we adopted Kuji was to have him groomed since
he had a few hairballs. The groomers decided to shave his tummy, so its
growing back in but he still looks a bit funny. Even with his current
hairdo he is still a good looker though, and his eyes are gorgeous.

Sorry, No reply was intended....I did something wrong!

How big is Kugi ? How old? Has he been an indoor or out?
I'll keep my ears out for anyone interested in such a great
cat. I've always had an preference to pure color cats. I
have been given information by other contacts in the cat
home finding business to be careful about sending black cats
only to homes that are screened to be known persons because of a
(black market) for black cats used in primative practices by
not so nice people, yes even in the northeast!
Has anyone else heard such rumors?
3887.4black cats and satanic rituals...BTOVT::MUNROE_RThu Aug 09 1990 16:5511
yes-- I've heard such rumors, and since I now own two all-black shorthaired
kittens, I am particulary happy to keep them inside.

How could anybody do anything horrible to a cat? Intentionally-- that
is-- I have run them over before (only one), but I was not at high
speed. And then I cried for a few hours. The worst part was I could
not find the body until later when my brother took the car down the
highway, heard a "THUD" noise and saw a car swerve behind him.
    Ghastly.

3887.5More about Kuji ...AICADC::DOLLIVERWatching my life go by ...Thu Aug 09 1990 19:2213
    re .3;

I can't estimate cat-weights very well, but I consider Kuji to be a bit on
the large side of medium-large. Kuji is about two and a half years old.

Kuji has always been an inside cat, and he doesn't seem to mind it
at all. He enjoys lounging in our enclosed patio, but shows no
intention of escaping to the great outdoors.

He is definitely all-black and jet-black, so I will heed your warnings.
I never considered that sort of thing (naive me). Thanks for your concern.

I was also warned by Boston Cat Hospital of people posing as a family
to acquire pets and then selling them to research labs. Hope you can
find a home through FELINE. That's usually pretty safe.

3887.7Kuji is settling in to a new homeAICADC::DOLLIVERWatching my life go by ...Fri Aug 24 1990 20:2621
Kuji has found a new home, and it sounds like a very good one for him.
He will be enjoying his days hanging around with a Llasa Apso dog which
had been very lonely before Kuji arrived. While we miss Kuji, we hope
he is happy and well in his new home. The new family sounds very
caring and nice, and I'm sure that Kuji will respond in kind.

When Kuji left we saw an immediate and amazing transformation in our
mother-cat Isabelle, who has returned to her former affectionate self,
and is now able to frequent her favorite household stalking and sleeping
grounds. Our other cat Button is much more laid back, and hardly
seemed to notice that Kuji was gone. Our daughter sure noticed for
a while, but everything about Kuji's new home sounded so nice that she
soon started feeling better that Kuji had a new start in a nice home
free from the pestering of Isabelle.

Thanks to FELINErs for all of your concern and offers of assistance,
and special thanks to Denise who connected Kuji to his new family,
and who even did all of the traveling and leg work to make it happen.

    Many thanks again,
    Todd

Its amazing what a personality change takes place if you have two
cats that aren't getting along and one goes to a new home.

Glad Kuji has such a nice new home.
