    Have any of you out there had trouble getting through to Master Animal
    Health Care? I know they have moved, perhaps someone has an up to date
    telephone number. Give me a call on DTN 276-9852 or send mail.
    Thanks!

3820.1I think they've moved...MCIS5::MCDONOUGHTue Jul 24 1990 19:2711
      Is that the one that was in Minnesota??? If so, they've moved,a nd I
    don't know their new location..

      I do have another company in N.J. that sells most of the same stuff,
    and some that they don't sell, and their prices are MUCH better...
    I'll post the name/number here tommorrrow, and an idea of some prices..

      We used to buy a product called "Orange Power" from the Minnesota
    company, and we now buy direct from the manufacturer...

3820.2That's the one!CSSE::CSTisn't that a moon cat?Tue Jul 24 1990 19:4816
    Yes john, they are the ones from Minnesota! That would be great to get
    another name. I thought the prices weren't too bad at this company!
    How good is that orange power? It is still in the MAHC catalog for
    20oz on sale for 12.59 and a gallon for 37.99.

    The other point to make about this company: I was told about a month
    ago when I placed my last order, that their prices should be getting
    better due to a larger warehouse. They will probably be buying in
    larger quantities and pass on the difference to us.

    Does anyone else out there have suggestions on good places to order
    supplies from?

    How about Master Vaccine, Foster and Smith, California Veterinary
    Medical Supply, Biologics Plus....?

    Of course, I don't have their numbers with me...except Foster and
    Smith 800-826-7206.

3820.4I think "Orange Power's" the greatest!!MCIS5::MCDONOUGHTue Jul 24 1990 20:2226
     Re .2
      We were buying "Orange Power" from Master by the gallon, but we now
    buy direct for 29.00/per gallon...of course, we've been named a
    "Kennel" by the manufacturer, and we bought 5 gallons last time.

      I think it's the best stuff going. We even mixed it with the dog
    shampoo and bathed them in a diluted form of it, and got rid of their
    fleas!!! Yup...fleas HATE the stuff. It also cuts stains, can be used
    on fabric, and it doesn't pollute the environment. When you mix it with
    water and use it, it smells just like a newly cut fresh orange.

      You can't use it in a plastic container unless it's diluted though,
    since it'll melt the plastic...

      I wish I could remember the place in Jersey...I just got an order
    from them about a week ago..."Urine Kleen", which we needed for the new
    tomcat that we acquired (See the "Luke-the-Drifter" note) since he
    sprayed a little after we brought him inside, was 3.25 for a spray
    bottle, and the local stores around here get $7.00 for the same size. I
    think "Master was getting around $5.00 for it...

      I'll get the name and number and post it...the people were really
    nice and very helpful and courteous as well, Not that I've got anything
    against Master..we've used them and had good service.

    Just for price comparison, Foster and Smith offers the 16oz size
    of Orange Power for $12.99.

    They are very high on vaccines, but a lot of the items that I use
    they have for a good price.

3820.6Here's the N.J. companyMCIS5::MCDONOUGHWed Jul 25 1990 13:0131

      The place in New Jersey is:

                   J-B Wholesale Pet Supplies Inc.
                   289 Wagaraw Road,
                   Hawthorne, New Jersey 07506

                       800-872-6027
                   In N.J. 201-423-2222
                   FAX #: 201-423-1181

     Some representative prices:

                   Boodabox litter box----$23.50
                   Petromalt hair-ball ointment--(56.8gr)-$2.55
                   "King Kong" dog toy--$8.25 ($13.00-14.00 locally)
                   Stoneware Cat mugs--$4.95 (breeds available=Abyssinian,
                     Am. Shorthair, Black Persian, Calico, Himalayan,
                     Kittens, Rex, Russian Blue, Scottish Fold, Siamese,
                     Tabby, White Persian.
                   "Linatone" for cats==4 oz==$2.50
                   "Urine Kleen"=8 oz spray==$3.65

     Unfortunately,they don't currently carry "Orange Power", but I'm
    working on that...they ARE interested in carrying it.(If I ever
    remember to call them and give'em the name/phone number of the company
    who makes it..)

    I found another one, Wholesale Veterinary Supply, Inc., P.O. Box
    2256, Rockford, IL 61131. Phone number is 1-800-435-6940.

    The catalog that I have for them is about a year old, but some prices
    are:

    Kennel Cab (small blue) $12.75
    Tokyo cage  $96.50
    Boodabox $18.50
    Petromalt 50gm $2.25
    Linatone 4oz. $2.10
    Nolvasan Disinfectant 1 gallon $21.50

    This is from the summer 1989 catalog so the prices are probably
    higher now. One thing that I have found is that the catalog companies
    vary in their prices to the extent that I haven't found one yet
    that was consistently lower on all the stuff I need.

3820.8Sounds reasonable...MCIS5::MCDONOUGHWed Jul 25 1990 16:3015
      Re .7
     Sounds like they're both in the same ball[ark, what with inflation and
    all that...

      Another thing that should be considered with mail order companies is
    their shipping/handling costs... Ordering something in Mass. from
    California may be more costly simply due to the shipping than to pay a
    bit more in Vermont fer instance..

      I think most wholesalers have a pretty fair idea of what the
    competition is charging though, so they can be a real bargain as
    opposed to the local pet-supply store..
