3626.0. "What does she smell?" by SASE::MORRIS () Tue May 22 1990 15:19

Maybe some of the other Feliners that are also involved with horses have run
into this before. Snuggles goes crazy anytime she smells something that's
been in contact with a horse. A few days ago I brought home my saddlepad
to wash it. Snuggles found it (before I washed it) and was rubbing herself
all over it. I figured it was the fluffy material she liked so much. Well,
yesterday I brought my cotton riding gloves in the house and she did the same
thing. She was making a fool out of herself, rubbing her face and body all
over them. She was acting the exact same way she does when I give her catnip.
She was having a blast! The strange thing is it doesn't have any effect on
Peaches. She just takes one sniff and walks away. Do I just have a wierd
cat?

    Paula-

It's funny that you mentioned that.....Nippa *loves* to sleep on
anything horsie, including blankets w/ that `old sweat/absorbine'
    scent - yech!

When she was hurt and depressed, I was bringing her w/ me where ever
I went, because she seemed happier being w/ me, that being alone in her
misery. Anyway, I brought her to my girlfriend's barn, and I figuered
she'd bing out at the sight of horses......quite the opposite.....all
she wanted to do was lick and kiss them. It was real cute to see her
and these huge horses licking and kissing each other.....well the baby
thought she was a snack ;^) But she was very content to be there, in
    a strange place, w/ strange beasts....(she was on a harness - just
    incase).

    Murrrppp Dear Gentle Feline Equestrinne,

Your cat is most welcome in our "Feline Riding Club", but she must
behave in a dignified manner at all times when at the Hunt club.
Payment in advance for all lessons. Purrrppp, welcome to our little
    riding circle.

I would be most delighted to purrticipate w/ your elite club. I have a
good green hunt prospect which I am working with, and I will enjoy
comparing training notes w/ each of you. I can not guarentee I will
be dignified 100% of the time, but I can assure you we will have a
very, very good time all of the time! I have been doing this for a
few years now, and know the ins and outs....

    Purrrrpppp Welcome Gentle Nippa,

We will be most pleased to add you to our class. I'm sure our
illustrious instructor won't mind. (Gentle Maureen, that means more
money for BOTH of us, Purrrppp.)

We ride on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Bridge club is on Friday at my
house, (bring your pocket money, large bills are fine, sometimes we
"make the game more interesting" with a genteel wager on the outcome.)

Dear Nippa, please be sure to wear correct hunt attire and hard hat.

    Regards,

Well, pardners, seems we'all had better start up our own
ridin' type social club. We right don't fit in with those
there fancy duds and tea sippin' cats. An' they even eat
    them there crumpet thin's, too.

Please pass the chaw of tobaccy, thank you kindly there, Rusty.

    Bye y'all-

Well, Peaches thinks she should be allowed to join the Feline Riding
Club rather than Snuggles. After all, she's the one that rides around
the house perched on Daddy's back. (He still insists he's not attached
    to them.)

She will bring Snuggles along as her groom.

Purrrrppp hi to all of you!

We certainly can accomodate another feline equestrian in our small
but elite club. And for bridge also, provided they can play 5 card
majors. It's the only bidding system Mistress Tasia knows.

Speaking of Tasia, she asked me to let you know that she will be
unable to participate in our lessons for a few weeks due to the
    impending birth of her kittens.

And Gentle Nippa, I'm sure you have sufficient taste and breeding
so as not to be influenced by some of the previous unsavory replies.
Chewy Tobacco Indeed! What some cats won't do for attention.

    Sincerely,

    Maureen, B.H.S.F.R.I

Well, Bonnie says she can't play bridge but will gladly help out
by serving tea and cookies while the older felines play. She
also says that she wants to learn both styles of riding - english
AND western. That way she can ride with the "ladies" sometimes and
with Bob and Isis (Who are definitely NOT refined kitties) othertimes.
She thinks she should learn all she can.

Hallie very much wants to join also, but I told her riding is out
until after the kittens are born. Do you, per chance, have a carriage
    available for her??

Murrpphh, Hiya Bonnie, This is Spot, if you don't play bridge maybe
you can join our Friday afternoon club, we play poker, and run numbers,
and generally try to liven up the Bridge club activities. It will be
more fun than waiting on a bunch of stuffed shirt Kitties.

If you don't know how to play, we will teach you. Bring lots of kitty
treats or pizza dollars, it is expensive to learn poker. Happy Hour
Hoyle (Mccurdy) will also help you learn. No dress code, jeans and
    leather jackets are fine.

Hope to see you Friday, Murrpphhh...

Hey there Cincinnati Spots! This is Boogie Cochrane here, and I
think those Friday poker games sound *real* good. I got lots of
kitty treats and pizza dollers cause Mom spoils us, so we can make
the stakes *real* interesting!!! Be nice to get out of this house
with all these "refined" Siamese. Can I bring my friends Belle,
Mips and Misha? I bet they'd enjoy it too, and we could really
stick it to those old Siamese at home. We'll rev up the turbo
Mustang and pile in! Just look for the silver tabbies with the
    matching black leather jackets.

Hi Spot. This is Bonnie. I don't have much pizza money but I
could sell my show ribbons. How about that?

My mom says I can come along with you guys as long as you make
sure I don't get into any real trouble. I don't understand it all
but it has to do with my being a "breeder" and getting hot or something.

See you soon....Mom is getting me a leather jacket. I like brown.

If we get tired of poker and running numbers, we can all
go cruisin' in the Mustang! Gonna be a great day! Maybe
we can drive up to the beach!

Don't worry about getting too hot Bonnie! When you're
hanging with the tabbies, you're cool, cool, cool!!!

I am so glad you pointed that out to that band of ruffians. Buying
ribbons indeed!!! Grrrr, the very idea!

I am so very glad that you will be playing Bridge with us, you are just

Here is hoping the "Poker Playing ruffians" leave us in peace.
