| OK, here's an update on Mel and Molly:
I did not expect such an instant response! Thank you for this notes file!
I got a call last night from someone wanting BOTH cats. I went to take
them over for a "look see", only to find that Molly had some sort of injury!
(coincidence or what). I didn't think she was up to a car ride, so I
took only Mel.
Anyway, to make a long story short, Molly has an abscessed bite of some
sort, and needs 10 days or so of antibiotics & salve. Mel is fine, of
course. I'm going to ask the potential owners if they can wait until
Molly is better -- Keeping them together would be wonderful.
If not, I got another call about Mel today. I'll keep this note
up to date -- could be Molly will still need a home.
One detail I forgot about Mel - because of the double paws he has 6 claws
on each front foot. The extra claw needs to be clipped or removed, the vet
recommends clipping for the cat's sake, (apparently these extra claws
sometimes have a very deep root) but I'll declaw if the new owner wants.
Clipping isn't that hard on cats, because the claw is clear and you can see
what you are doing. Understand we are talking about a total of 2 claws here,
not all the front claws.
BTW, in response to a question: Of the two I think Molly is much more of a
mouser.

| Sorry to hear that Molly has an injury, but sounds as though you got it
under control and she is on the road to recovery.
Hopefully the potential parents will wait until Molly is 100% so
that Molly and Mel can be adopted together...that would be ideal!
I am so happy (so far) that you found homes for them. I would
LOVE to have taken them - but for now it just wouldn't have been
the appropriate thing to do (on my end).
Here's hoping it all works out and I feel a little better knowing that
some loving and caring people have come to your rescue.
Hugs to all...

| Another update - the trials and tribulations of owning too many cats...
The couple that was thinking about taking Molly and Mel decided to get two
kittens instead. I wasn't too concerned, because I thought there would be
other people who might want a mixed pair...
Then Mel decided it was time to leave the fold, or else he decided since I was
looking for another home for him he would try to pick out his own. No sooner
was his claw better than he took off. I let him out one night and he never came
back.
I have looked and asked around -- no luck. Meanwhile I got several calls for
him or him and Molly, and I had to tell them that he was gone.
Anyway, Molly still needs a home, and time is getting short. I keep thinking
how good she'd be for someone who wants a cat with a purrsonality that is
already developed and known. With a kitten it's a gamble whether they'll
be friendly or not. With Molly it's a given.
Many thanks for all the good words, though. If anyone knows someone out in
the country who needs a good mouser and friend, let me know.
Thanks,
Lisa
(P.S., in answer to some questions I had, Molly is an inside/outside cat, not
a barn cat. Although she could probably survive the "rough life", I think she
really needs someone to cuddle now and then.)
