3595.1Ocicats? (neat!)SASE::SOULARDHere Kitty Kitty...--meow?Mon May 14 1990 13:2215
If I am not being too nosey, approximately how much do Ocicats go for?
Do they require any special treatment. I've had common house cats all
my life, so I don't know too much about Ocicats, but your sounds nice.
    I have 3 males (Kitty 5, Jazmyn 4, Sassafrass 4). I previously had a
black cat, but gave it to my parents because it was not getting along
too well with our other cats...(my parents have the brother of Jazmyn
and Sass - a male all black so the new black cat -who is 2- gets along
    great with theirs!)

Bradford is like 2 minutes away from me, and I did see their ad for
Ocicats in a cat magazine last year.

    Oh well, just wondering!

Doreen, tho I'm not Cathy, I did check into the price of Ocicats
for a relative of mine once. It was around the fall of last year,
and a pet quality kitten sold for $350. I do not recall the breeder
I spoke with; I approached someone at a cat show and asked that
    one question.

Ocicats are very unique and striking. Congrats, Cathy, on the new
    addition!

That's the general price range for pets $350 - $450. Of course, show
quality are higher. Kazar's Cattery is on 155 Salem St. in Bradford.
    Thier phone number is 508-373-0694.

They are VERY unique both in coloring and facial features.

Are these the cats with no fur? Can someone describe them in more
    detail? They sound very interesting.

    Congrats on your new baby!

Ocicats look a bit like wild cats - with fur! The hairless cat that
you are thinking of is the Sphinx or is that Sphynx?

    Lisa.

The Rex can be another type with no fur...

Ocicats sound wonderful! Good luck w/your new addition.

Rex should have fur. The rex coat is close lying to the body, but
has a tight marcel wave to it (should have). Sometimes rex will
lose some of their coat, making them look bald in spots, but they
    most certainly do have hair.

    Re:more info

ocicats remind me of leopards with strips down the back at the rest is
spotted. Freckles is short-haired. Right now at 12 weeks as I
mentioned earlier he is all legs and ears.

Very friendly and blended in very fast with 4 of the other 5 cats the
other one is the snippy one, not Freckles.

Another Ocicat breeder is Bobbi Beyer - ChinaCat Cattery here in
Hudson New Hampshire. They 'had' kittens a while back; don't
know if they have any left just now.
