| Hi Nancy,
I have two recommendations; I believe both parties are listed in the
pet sitting note, #400.
I highly recommend Sue Ries and Pattie O'Neill, two DECies who work as
a team. They did live-in cat-sitting for me (I believe they will tailor
their services to your needs as much as possible) for 3 weeks last fall
and again for 9 days this spring. Either Sue or Pattie would come to
feed the cats supper, stay overnight, then feed them breakfast before
leaving for the day. My 5 indoor cats are used to having human company
at least part of every day. There is no way I could (or would) leave
them alone for that length of time and just have someone come in to
feed them. They would also be very unhappy if they had to stay in an
unfamiliar place (a kennel, the vet's) for any length of time, and the
cost would be prohibitive. I also felt it was better to have someone
in the house while I was gone to discourage break-ins. So, having a
live-in sitter was the ideal solution for me.
After meeting Sue and Pattie for the first time I felt very comfortable
going on vacation and leaving the cats in their care. That was very
important to me, as I am a worrier and there would be no way to reach
me (in E. Germany and Poland) if something went wrong while I was away.
Sue and Pattie took great care of the cats (the little brats hardly
even missed me!), their price was very reasonable, and they also cleaned
the house before I got home! You can contact Sue at SMURF::RIES.
Fellow FELINER Bernice Ward also cat sits for me frequently and is
very good. Bernice does daily visits rather than overnighters. She is
at ZEKE::/FREKE::/SQUEKE::WARD.
If you have any questions you can send me mail at PROSE::GOGOLIN.
