3507.0. "Snack Pack Attack....." by BOOVX2::MANDILE () Mon Apr 09 1990 18:01

No, you can't have any. Get off of my lap, you two.
Rusty, get your nose out of my food.... Pepper, mind
your manners, stop licking at my spoon...This is for
people, cats don't eat this....Rusty, pull in your
claws, your digging into my leg....Pepper, get your
paw out of that cup.....You're both too heavy to
gang up on me all at once....Get off my lap, both of
you, this minute.....I don't want to share....

O.K. (sigh), you can have some of my tapioca pudding.

"...so, Phyllis (my wife), as I was saying before we were so rudely
    interrupted..."

***MEOOWWRR!!*** Translates to: It's MY dinner time and I want what's
coming to me and this MEANS EVRYTHING IN SIGHT!

    "...just how WAS your day?"

***MEYeeewrrrp!!*** Translates to: STOP this idle chatter RIGHT now or
I'll do something drastic. H'mmm that is Turkey soup he's eating...!

As I raise the soup spoon containing a chunk of homemade turkey
soup, the forward progress of my arm is abruptly interrupted by two paws
with a wrestling grip undoubtedly learned from Bonkers watching too
    many Wrestling matches...

"Phyllis, DID YOU SEE THAT?!! I can't believe he WENT as far as
grabbing the spoon right of my MOUTH!" We have to teach this 2 yr.old
    some table manners!"

You guyes reminded me of a cute thing my horse did (I know it's not cat
related, but it *was* cute). Jesse *LOVES* beer, probably more than
any other treat we could give her. One hot summer afternoon, we had
come back from riding and were having a beer. I had already given Jesse
hers, and I was sitting on the bench talking w/ my friend. All of a
sudden Jesse reaches over the fence and grabs the bottle from my
hand - and proceeded to drink the beer.....I was concerned she'd bite
the glass....so I hopped over the fence to get it from her.....but of
course she wouldn't let me have it until she was finished....Silly
    horse!

Well, would someone *please* tell me how a 9-year old sealpoint
siamese knows the particular crinkle sound of a Doritos bag?
I don't get company for chips, popcorn, crackers or the like -
but take out a bag of Doritos and - whoom instant Siamese - begging
on her hind legs no less!! ;-)

Duke eats EVERYTHING with only one exception...popcorn.

Which of course happens to be Sasha's favorite. She could
hear the bag opening a mile away. Wonder what she'll do now
that we have a hot air popper. That should be interesting.
If I don't give her a piece when *she* wants one, she'll sit on
the back of the couch and bat at me with her front paw.
"Hey you...mom, gimme a piece will ya! What's wrong with you!"

3507.111 likes Cheerios; 1 spaghetti sauceSTAR::PMURPHYThe Paws That Refresh!Wed Apr 11 1990 16:287
Thai likes cereal, but ONLY "Cheerios". Midnight only wants something
if it's made with spaghetti sauce (I say wants because he doesn't get
it). The rest seem to be preoccupied with their own dishes of food
while I'm eating (I always feed them first).

    Hi Pat,

It seems, tomato sauce, tomato juice is very good for cats. acidifies
the urine!! When my SilVee has cystitis, the vet always says, don't
forget her juice! They really seem to love tomato anything, cats do.
Maybe they know something that we don't, eh???

Some of mine like only Cheerios also, but I think it's because they
like the milk at the bottom of the bowl with the sugar! And, because
it's pretty much the only cereal I eat except for Corn Flakes !!

3507.13Maybe I should give him someSTAR::PMURPHYThe Paws That Refresh!Wed Apr 11 1990 16:5314

That's interesting to know. Maybe I should share some of the sauce
with him then. How much do you give, a teaspoon, tablespoon, ? Wonder
if D.P. should have some; he's the one that has had urinary tract
problem until I switched to Science Diet for everyone (everyone but
Midnight as he won't eat the canned variety - not enough spaghetti
    sauce).

Re. Cheerios. Thai gets one at a time from corner of table. He'll
stand on his hind legs and with one paw, pulls the Cheerios to his
mouth. Normally I don't encourage begging at the table but this is the
only time he does this and only when I occasionally have Cheerios for a
change. I call him my "Cheerios Kid".

3507.14Has anyone else's vet recommended tomato juice?CUPMK::TRACHMANExotic Babies are soooo CuteWed Apr 11 1990 17:159
Well, tomato juice would be better - less spices and stuff. Next
time you speak with your vet, ask and see what they say. If I
have some in the house, I'll put a small bowl down and let any
one that wants some have some - they love it! SilVee hasn't had
a problem in a while, knock on wood !!! Of course, keeping her
on the medication for at least 3 weeks helped also. Sometimes
the usual 7 to 10 days just doesn't work.

Last night Stitch was at it again. Asparagus is in season and he's
off to the races. The minute you put them in the steamer or boiling
water the aroma starts to drive him nuts. We couldn't keep him
off the table during dinner - every time we turned around he was
into the asparagus, we gave him a small plate of his own, but he
wanted more, more more - Stitch - stay out of my asparagus - at
least until the price goes down.

Ditto thinks Columbo yogurt is co-YUM-bo!
Any flavor...must be like SnakPak pudding, I guess.
I have to share with him OR ELSE he ignores me

We have to be carefull about leaving loaves of bread out on the
counter. Not too long after we aquired Jasper, we came home to
find an unopened loaf of bread bitten in about 20 different places.
Little tears were carefully made in the wrapper, and a tiny bite
nibbled just underneath. I wouldn't have minded if the culprit
had eaten *one* piece of the loaf, but...nnoooo!...she had to try
almost *each* slice of bread to see if they all taste the same!!

We weren't sure who did it the first time, but a few months later
we caught Jasper in the act!! This time it was a bag of rolls.

The funny part is, is that if you break off a piece of bread that
you are eating, and give it to her--she will take it or leave it.
Unless, of course, it has butter on it!!
