3472.0. "Percy is missing..." by XNOGOV::LISA () Fri Mar 30 1990 08:45

Percy hasn't been seen since Wednesday evening. I have called him
until my throat gets sore and I have searched every where. He has
been 'done', so he shouldn't be out looking for a mate. I have done
a poster for the local shop.
I just don't know what else to do. I am so worried :-(

Lisa plus Pookie :-) minus Percy :-(

PS Any feliners in Great Shefford - keep your eyes peeled. Ginger
    cat with a white chest.

Call your local animal control officer and any shelters and vets
in the area incase he has been turned in. Also run an ad in your
    local paper.
      Good luck.
      Nancy DC

p.s. Have you checked your basement, garage and any other structures
like that in the area? All your neighbor's garages, basements etc.

    Oh, no, Lisa!

Best of luck with finding Percy. He's such a beautiful cat!

I agree with Nancy's suggestions. Also, you might try talking to
the neighborhood children. Kids keep an eye out for cats and dogs, and
    they might have seen him.

Here's sending kitty vibes to Percy to "come home"!

    Lisa,

I know what you're going through as Georgie has had his (missing)
    moments, too.

    Have faith.

Here's hoping you find him soon,

I'm told it helps if the poster offers a reward and has more than one
color of ink. (This from a pet-care program on the educational channel
    a few years back.)

I have put up posters in the local shop, petrol station and the show
house - I live on a new development. I am offering a reward.

I have called the local vets, police, RSPCA, rescue centre and
    shelters.

I have searched the houses that are being built down the road.

I have called a removal firm that were moving someone in close by in
case Percy hid in the lorry (and is now in Slough).

I have posted leaflets through all the neighbours doors. I will spread
the search later this evening when some of my neighbours can help.

I've done all this and still nothing.

Pookie misses him and so do I. I am miserable.

    Lisa.

Please continue to keep us posted, we are all hoping he will be home

A cat was killed very close to here on Wednesday night. A neighbour
saw it. The car stopped, but the cat was dead. I don't know if
it was Percy - the body has vanished. I wish the neighbour had come
    round earlier.

    Lisa.

PS The cat was ginger - just like Percy.

I hope its not him - I just can't stand the thought of him being dead.

    Lisa,

I feel so bad! Prayers are on their way for Percy's safe return.
Hang in there! One of our childhood cats was missing for 10 days
    before coming safely home.

    Lisa,

My thoughts and prayers are with you. I feel sad - so I can just imagine
the anguish you are feeling. Not knowing can be so awful.

Hope Percy comes home to you TODAY!

Our thoughts are with you. Is there any way that you might be able to
find out if the dead cat was Percy? Around here the animal control people
pick up bodies, so they might have a description, or perhaps
someone living nearby buried him? Did he have an id tag on?

When cats go missing they are often temporarily trapped in a garage or
basement or shed, but it sounds like you are covering that
    possibility.

I know how terrible you must feel. Please let us know how things go.

    Lisa.

I agree you have done all you can. Now the hardest part--the waiting.
We are sending prayers that Percy was not run over, that he's just
    hiding out somewhere...

    hysterical) and Stanley

3472.12We found himXNOGOV::LISAFri Mar 30 1990 17:5311
We found him. Stuck in a hedge. He was run over on Wednesday evening.
    Hardly a mark.

Pookie seems a bit confused. She keeps on going out which is very
unusual. I think she must be looking for him.

We will bury him tomorrow. I am so unhappy. Poor Percy - We loved him
    so much.

    Lisa.

Oh, Lisa, I am so sorry to hear about Percy's demise. We lost Chauncey
last October to a car accident, so know how you are feeling.

Take comfort in knowing that you gave Percy a happy life while he
was alive, and that he loved you very much. Cats have no concept
of quantity, but do know when they have lived a quality life.

May a lucky new kitty find his way into your home and heart when
    you are ready.

    Take care,
    Roberta

I am so sorry and so sad. Although I never met Percy I heard so much about
him I felt I knew him. And those lovely pictures you showed me only last
    week.

Try to think of all the good times you had with him. I'm sure this
will help you get through this unhappy experience.

    Best wishes,

    Lisa,
I know how this feels. I'm so sorry that Percy was killed.
I hope its some small consolation to know that his name has been
added to the Silver Lining Memorial and our donations made in his
and other cats' memories will be put to use helping other kitties.

Thank you for all your messages - it really is a comfort to know that
other people care. I am going to print the whole note out so that I
can keep it with my photos of Percy. I loved Percy so much - I keep
expecting him to come through the cat flap at any moment.

We buried him in the garden and planted a couple of plants in his
    memory at the W/E.
