3449.0. "LOOKING FOR A "DRAWF" CAT" by CASPRO::BRUYERE () Thu Mar 22 1990 13:12

    Does anyone out there know where I can get a "drawf" cat? I have
    a friend who has one, but I don't know who breeds them. I hear that
    they cost about $100. I called the folks running the Hudson, NH Cat
    show this weekend and they aren't going to have any.

    Any ideas, info or comments would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

3449.3HERE'S THE CATCH!CASPRO::BRUYEREThu Mar 22 1990 17:3627
    A "drawf" cat is one that does not really ever get much bigger than
    a 6mos. old kitten. They stay roughly between 2-5 lbs. for the rest
    of their lives.

    Guys, this is for real. I know a few people that have had them. They
    cost about $100 or more dollars from a breeder. Guys....I'm not
    pulling your leg....it's for real! I've seen them!

    Any suggestions?

    I currently have a 8 mos. old tuxedo cat. I am planning on going to
    the cat show in Hudson NH this weekend. I'm sure that will be an
    experience. They are going to have kittens for sale (all breeds I
    guess), but the lady told me no drawfs!

    Missy, my current daughter, and I mean that in the real sense cause she
    believes I am truly her biological mother, needs a sister. I work a
    lot of hours and she gets rather lonely. She is an indoor declawed
    kitten. I just love her to death. She is a crier though. I have
    bought her more toys than a real baby. I just haven't gotten around to
    dressing her up yet! I hope she doesn't cry all day when I'm not
    there. She does cry whenever she hears the external door of the
    building open. She thinks its me (I know I've had people verify this).
    I have spoiled this kitten and now she is out of control. She races
    behind me when I head for the door in the morning and starts crying. I
    let her sleep right next to me on a pillow all night long. Have I made
    the bed I have to lie in know? help

    I think getting Missy some company is the purrfect solution.

3449.5WR2FOR::CORDESBRO_JOset home/cat_max=infinityThu Mar 22 1990 18:104
    So, do you really mean "dwarf" and not "drawf"? Or is that the
    new name of miniature cats?

3449.6Lonely....she needs companyBOOVX1::MANDILEThu Mar 22 1990 19:286
    Sounds like Missy needs company. I have always had at least two
    just for that reason. Being alone all day is not good for anything
    or anyone!

    Cin,

    Will you be showing in Hudson this weekend?. I would really enjoy
    meeting you and some of your gang. My moms looking for a seal point female
    Himmy Kitten at the show adn I'm just looking, know of anything out there?

    This will be my first cat show I've ever been to. I'll be real easy to
    recognize. Just look for a woman heavily medicated with allerest and
    wearing a surgical mask over her face....

    Although I'm not allergic to the Persians or Himmys Almost all others
    do me in.

    Hope to meet many of you fellow noters there.

3449.17let's get back on track...CSSE::LEVINTue Mar 27 1990 14:329
    One of the litters will be at my house....Candy Cane is due on Sunday,
    April 1....we're now in the home stretch!

    But this is all really off the topic of the main note...."dwarf" or is it
    really "drawf" cats? Are they a special breed or just called that
    because they are smaller....so that any small cat would qualify?

3449.18I guess I'll have kittens for sale!IAMOK::GERRYHome is where the Cat isTue Mar 27 1990 15:0311
    Diane,

    I wasn't counting Candy's litter!!! That really does make 7 litters,
    doesn't it!!!!!

    She's due this weekend!

    cin...who's going to have kittens climbing the walls!

    BTW, anyone interested in exotic or persian kittens, let me know!

3449.19I'll be Dave says that kittens DO count, huh Cin??TOPDOC::TRACHMANExotics are Shorthaired PersiansTue Mar 27 1990 17:039
    Gee Cin, then I guess I don't have 23 - I still only have 18 !!!

    That is if kittens don't count! Hey breeders, have any of you had
    the sex of a kitten change like magic overnight, like go from a
    boy to a girl? I now think that I have 3 girls and 2 boys instead
    of 3 boys and 2 girls !! Boy, what magic - maybe the other 2 boys
    will change also !

3449.20Enquiring minds want to know!CSSE::SHEARMANTue Mar 27 1990 17:433
    This is all very nice but I'm STILL curious about what a "dwarf" or is
    it "drawf" cat is - a special breed or just smaller cat? Does anyone
    know??
3449.21WR2FOR::CORDESBRO_JOset home/cat_max=infinityTue Mar 27 1990 17:445
    To be honest, I have never heard of either a 'dwarf' or a 'drawf'
    cat. Don't know that one exists as a separate breed. None of the
    associations that I am familiar with recognize any such breed.

    My vet sexed my first two litters (kits were at vet because Momcats
    had troubles), and there were 7 boys. And "all" I had wanted was
    the "best female." Ha! Well, a few weeks later, when they were
    all in for their 6 weeks shots, turned out there were 6 boys and
    a girl!!! Hence the name Secret Princess. She is the Matriarch
    of one side of the Meowsky line (HopeyCat's Mom, for example!).

    And now Moxie (Meowsky's Make Mine Moxie) is my latest star (to
    make his debut this weekend in Montvale)...he was one of 4 girls,
    until a friend noticed that the 4 girls weren't 4 girls...3 girls
    and a boy! But Secret Prince just didn't work this time...

    ah, ha! Well, I'm still hoping that I was more right the 2nd time,
    and that there are 3 girls and 2 boys!! As long as they are
    healthy (and shorthair ha ha) whatever is fine. Of course,
    I did put my order in for 5 shorthair baby girls, oh well.
    Exotics will be Exotics and give us what they will !!
