3426.0. "CFA CAT BOOK/WISH BOOK" by SMEGIT::ROSSI () Thu Mar 15 1990 15:41

Just received my CFA book for 1989-1990 the other day. Its wonderful!!
I have really been enjoying leafing through all the georgous pictures.
If anyone is interested I do have an extra order blank for the book it
costs around $27.00 If anyone would like to have a copy for themselves
you can call me at DTN 264-1054.

Have a few questions after reviewing the many pages of pictures of
    Persians and Himmy's.

Do some Persians have blue eyes? I thought the blue eyes were linked
    only with the colorpoints/Himmy's?

I am aware that some of the silver and white Persians have green eyes.
Is it true that when the eyes are green that they should be bred only
to cats with similar eye color?

What about having both, one green eye and one blue? I did see some
with that combination and apparently it is perfectly acceptable because
    they were in the book.

Regarding paw pads is it true that Persians have dark pads and himmy's
have pink, Or does it differ depending on the color of the cat?

Cin, I must say I did fall in love with the exotic shorthairs their
    beautiful.

Anyone out their familiar with and can provide any info on the
Brittish Blues? Seems to be my dad's favorite after reviewing the
book. Don't hear much about them any info will be much appreciated.

White Persians can have blue eyes, copper eyes, or odd eyes (one
blue and one copper). One blue eye and one green eye are not allowed
    in white persians.

Silver Persians (chinchilla, shadeds, and silver tabbies) come with
green eyes. Silvers are not allowed any other eye color in CFA.

Blue eyes are linked to the siamese gene, but there is also another
gene that carries the blue eye color. That is the white spotting
    factor.

Paw pad colors depend on the color of the cat. Silvers usually
have dark paw pads, whites have pink paw pads, Himmy's would have
dark ones, I would think. Birmans are allowed to have either pink
or dark, or pink spotted with dark, since they are considered to
be a particolor of sorts. We breeders prefer pink though.

They have only a limited supply left, so this might be a good idea.

The cost is $27.95 and includes shipping via UPS.

I received the yearbook a few weeks ago... and still can't put it
down! It is wonderful!! Every single photo in there is one to
be admired. I could look at cat pictures forever -- my husband
thinks I'm nuts -- but it is one of my favorite pasttimes.

There are some very good stories and articles in the yearbook as
well. The story of the Cat of the Year is terrific... you can feel
the owner's excitement jumping out at you from the pages.

If you are a true lover of cats and love to ponder over the various
breeds, I highly recommend investing in the yearbook. It is definitely
    money well spent.

3426.5Pink nose, pink toes TPMARY::TAMIRACMS design while-u-waitThu Mar 15 1990 17:0014
Jo,

As for Himmies having dark toes, Chauncey wants you to know that his nose
and his toes are a lovely pink, with just a shading of peach to them. They
complement his glacial white fur with cream points. Honey, on the other
hand has the darkest of noses and toes to match his seal points.

Where do all these colours come from? My little feral Robin is mostly
white with a few black patches, but has a black nose and black toes popping
out of that white fur. She's so cute...

I guess I better stay away from the yearbook....the inn is full!!

The himmys are like birmans, their paw pads and nose leather will
match whatever point color they have. Flame points will have pink,
seals will have seal, blues will have blue, etc. It would be weird
to see a flame point himmy with seal nose leather!
