3323.0. "Source for lowcost spay/neut. certs." by PARITY::DENISE (And may the traffic be with you) Fri Feb 09 1990 23:53

The Girl Scouts in my neighborhood are sponsoring a pet neuter
awareness program right now. They provided an address in the paper
    for low-cost spay/neuter certificates:

                      Friends of Animals
                      P.O.B. 1244

                      1-800-631-2212

Anyone can contact the above organization to receive the
    certificates.

To anyone who contacs FOA - and Denise tell the girlscouts -
request the list of Participating Vets as well as the applications.
Only certain vets will accept the certificates.

One other word of advice: I have received complaints about one or
two of the participating vets - not the vets themselves, but employees
in their offices. Apparently, some folks have been treated as if
they are being greedy by wanting to use a low-cost spay program.
One may was told to "Search his soul" because the receptionist had
questioned him about his job and decided that he could well afford
    to pay the full price.
DON'T TAKE ANY CRAP FROM THESE PEOPLE. Ignore their comments and
insist on making your appointment. Then write a letter to Friends
of Animals describing the treatment you received, and I would also
suggest, send a copy to the vet him/herself.
We all work very hard to get folks we know to spay/neuter their
pets and we don't need that kind of treatment interfearing. Be
aware that while rare, it CAN happen occasionally. Don't let it
stop you or whomever you've been working with.
     Keep up the good work.
      Nancy DC
