3302.0. "Benny, my best friend!" by WAV12::BENOITP () Mon Feb 05 1990 10:44

    HI GUYS,

I've been reading this notes file for several months now, and finally
I decided to contribute a note. For the past 6 weeks, my wife was in
the hospital expecting our first baby. (She delivered on Tuesday,
Jan 30, a baby boy). Needless to say, I was lonely without her. But
my best friend, Benny, was there at my side whenever I felt down.
Benny is a beautiful black and white "tuxedo" cat who is about a year
and a half old. I don't know what I would have done without him. I
can't explain it but it almost seemed as if he knew I was upset and
lonely and he tried to comfort me. When I watched tv, he would do the
tabby stomp and then would cuddle on my lap and purr endlessly as if
the sound of the purr would comfort me. He would also sleep side by
side with me and didn't mind when i accidently rolled over on him.
Benny is definitely an important member of our family who we love very
    much.
I guess what what I would like to do is to take this opportunity to
thank him very much for being there for me in my time of need.
Thank you very much Benny, I love you.

I also thought that other feline noters could take this opportunity to
say thank you for their cats for being there for them.

    thanks
    Paul.

HI Paul and welcome to you and Benny, and your wife, and NEW BABY !!

Benny sounds like my buddy Nikolas - he's always there when he
    thinks I need him !!

    Good luck all around,

and we will wait for both baby and kitty stories.

    paul,

your note brought tears to my eyes, 'cause my felines have always meant
so much in my life, too.

to cissy, my first...thank you for helping me realize my own ability to
love. for so long i felt dead inside and feared life would always be
that way. and thank you for showing me it is possible to be loved in
return. your spirit is with me always. i love you.

to stella (still the h*llcat)...thank you for helping me through the
death of my beloved cissy. you were my first young kitten, and boy! i
didn't know what i was in for. i am glad you have put some of the
impetuousness of youth behind you and have matured into a beautiful
cat. i love your tabby stomp and your soft, barely audible, purr--meant
for my ears only! i love you.

to stanley...thank you for helping me get over stella's kittenhood. ;-)
just kidding. thank you for choosing *me* that late-afternoon last
january when you appeared on my deck and never left. i appreciate
your basically calm, laid-back outlook on life. i love your rumbling
purr that i can feel vibrating when you curl up in the small of my back
    to sleep. i love you.

To Brandi _ I owe it to you for getting me over my allergies
to kitties. I had always been allergic but when
I started to see Cary you would come and sit
with me. I was miserable at first...sneezing
etc but after awhile my system became immune to
you and all other cats!! Thanks Brandi

To Sasha	- You were my very first kitten. And I love you
to death. You are momma's little baby and you
know it. You greet me when I come home and when
I get up first thing in the morning. You like
to cuddle up with me when I'm watching TV and
you love to help me eat my popcorn!! You'll
always be my favorite and my baby. I love you!

To Duke - My poor little baby. You're so sick but refuse
to give up on life. You're tiny but feisty.
Even after you bit me, I couldn't make myself
stay mad at you for very long. Your loud purr
is addicting. Mommy and Daddy promise to try
and make you comfortable for however much longer
you'll be with us....and we hope you don't leave
    			   too soon.

To Chloe	- I loved you even when you weren't mine. When
your first dad had to give you up I immediately
wanted you. You're so pretty and have a
wonderful purr....bbrrpp! I hope someday soon
Sasha will stop terrorizing you so you can
live in our home without fear of her. And
please, stop using the kitchen and living room
    			   rugs as litterboxes!!

JJ who loves her little monsters to death!

My tribute to my "best pals"

Zildjian - you helped Micheal (my husband) realize what it is to love
and be loved by a feline. The thing I will always remember about you
is the way you sleep on my chest when you are cold and need to warm up.
The way you purr and snuggle your nose in my ear giving me *kisses*.
The way you chase after your toy and bring it back to me only to chase
it over and over again. How dainty you are compared to Spunks, how
clean and white your fur is. I will always remember you as my "first"
cat after being married. Your are my baby, my love.

Spunky - I will always remember you as our "garfield" cat. You will
eat anything - our garbage cat. I will remember you for your beautiful
coat and how unusual it is. I will remember you for your "chattering"
when seeing anything flying in the sky, even a plane. The way you use
your paw to pick up a piece of chicken I have thrown your way. the way
you roll over and "mreowwwww" expecting to get rubbed on the belly.
the way your tail blows up when you see another animal in *your yard*.
You are my kitty-kat - BIG HUG!!!!!!!!!

My babies, they are the best cats in all the world!! (As are all the
cats in this notes file ;-)

Panther, Mummies cat, you only purr for me and you whisper purr, I
have to put my ear on your body to hear it. But I love it when you
crawl into my lap for some "Mummie lovins". She will sit next to my
husband and she 'lets' him rub her tummy, if I am not available to
perform that service, but it's mummie's lap she really wants. She
sleeps under the covers with me cuddled close and purring ( my jerry
says that we both purr!) , she will let
me hug her and wrap my self around her when she does this, we both get
warm in no time!! She chose me out of all the people who went to the
shelter to look at cats, and I am so glad that she did! I am the only
one who can pick her up and cuddle her like a baby and she begs for
more! She makes me feel very special. When I am sick, she is right
there taking care of me, and sharing my kleenex. (Sigh, she loves to
shred them.) Panther is my third cat, and the first of the pair that
became my husbands first pets. She is a very special Lady.

Spot, What to say about a ditsy big cat that can melt your heart with
one look from those great big gold eyes. She is really my husbands' cat.
Spot was about 8 weeks old when we went to the shelter to find 2 cats.
We looked and looked, big cats little cats, all different colors, and
shapes. Spot looked us over for a little while, then took matters into
her own paws, Jerry was seriously considering a kitten in an upper
cage, when tiny (at the time) Spot simply climbed up his leg, through
the bars of her lower cage and said,"Enough is enough, I'm your cat,
take me home!" So he did!

She really is his cat too. If he is away overnight she scolds me for
hiding Daddie, she looks everywhere for him and is very put out at me
until he comes home. She will not go to bed (she sleeps on Jerry' feet
at the foot of the bed,) at night until Daddie has brushed her coat.
When Jerry brushes her you can hear her purr 2 rooms away! She even
rolls over on her back so he can comb her belly! (She will not even
let my pat her belly, just Daddie.) She taught Jerry how a pet can
enrich your life, and how much they give back for so very little
investment, a little time and food and Vet care, I mean really, for
    devotion like that?

We wouldn't trade either cat for anything!! Thank you Panther and Spot
    for living with us!

    Feline Grateful for her furbabies,

    Sue & Jerry Too!

3302.7My message to Bailey, Amelia and CarrieSCRUZ::CORDES_JASet Apartment/Cat_Max=3Wed Feb 07 1990 22:5429
Bailey - My very first cat. You taught me alot about cat care. You
helped me teach Jo Ann that her sister didn't know the
1st thing about cats and would panic at the smallest sneeze
or sniffle. You will always be special to me as you were
the first cat I ever had. You'll always be my Bay-Bay Kitty
             and I'll always love you.

Amelia - When I brought you home and you had a severe case of earmites
and immediately came down with a bad kitty cold I thought
I had made a terrible mistake getting a 2nd cat. Boy was
I wrong. You taught me that cats have an incredible capacity
for showing love and affection. You follow me around the
house and always need to be touching me when laying next
to me. I look to you first when I need comforting. You
are my Mee-Mee cat and I adore you.

Carrie - You taught me that having cats is not always as easy as
it seems. Everything I do for the other cats I have to
do different to make it work for you. You are a holy
terror in my household but I love you dearly. I knew the
first night I found you in the parking lot that even though
I had intended to find your old home or a new home for
you that you would probably end up staying with me. The
deal was sealed when you told me your name was Carrie Nation
and that no other (more sweet and lady-like) name would do.
             You're my Care-Cat and I love you.
