| I prefer to use Nature's Miracle, but any of the enzyme type products
should do the trick for you. The enzyme's eat up the urine, and
take away the smell.

| First off, you should take your kitty to the vet. (Unless he is a tiny
kitty who actually can't make it to the litter box). Missing the litter
box is often a symptom of a urinary tract infection. Once they've clobbered
some place, however, they will revisit it as long as the smell remains.
There are enzyme-based products (such as Nature's Miracle) that you can
buy in pet stores that neutralize the odor. It takes a while to dry
after treatment (maybe a week if you can't lift the carpet) and it smells
worse while it is drying that the original urine.

| I know this is somewhat off the subject, but does Nature's Miracle also
work on tummy upset mistakes? I have a place on my sofa that needs
something to remove the smell before that kitties eat a hole in my sofa
:-)

| I use the NM for both types of accidents. It works. I am just
wishing that they sold NM in gallon jugs. Enough to get me through
till the seven poo-heads outgrow this stage.

They are very appropriately named!! This weekend, I had a kitten
buyer come over to see the poo-heads. She is interested in one
of the seal point males. Well, we had all seven poo-heads out,
and we were playing with the kitty tease. Well, one of them decided
that even though he had to go to the bathroom, he didn't want to
miss out on any of the game, so he just stepped back a few paces,
and TOOK A DUMP ON THE CARPET RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE KITTEN BUYER!!!
I was mortified!! I just told her that it was a stage that they
were going through, and that was why we called them poo-heads.
I have never been so embarrassed in all my life.

| After the buyer left, my husband and I were roaring with laughter
about it. Sometimes, things are so embarrassing that you *have*
to laugh about it!

| Another good product is called "outright". Has worked wonders on my
carpet where seasea has had a "problem". It either comes in a liquid
format (mix with water) or it comes in a powder that you spread on the
carpet and then vaccuum. It has REALLY done a good job on some tough
odors.

| I've got a cat who is using one of my carpets as a litter box. I'm
not sure which cat it is since I've only seen and smelled the evidence.
One cat is going to the vet tonight, and I'm trying to be very good
about changing and keeping the litter clean. I don't think they are
using the carpet any more since I've blocked off the room and cleaned
up my litter habits.
My main task now is to GET THE SMELL OUT!! I've tried an enzymatic
product (whose name I forgot) and that seemed to work somewhat. I've
treated the rug, pad and underfloor several times. Right now, the
smell is so bad, I hate going into the room (and it is worse than the
urine smell). How long does this stuff take to work? I applied it
4 days ago. The rug is dry, the pad is a bit damp, and the floor is
a bit wet in places. I have a fan blowing on it to try to speed up
the drying. Am I doing the right thing or should I try something else?

| It takes about a week for the enzyme stuff to completely dry and become
odorless on somehting like a carpet. It's also possible that the cat
went some place
else on the rug that you didn't notice and so haven't treated.
Be sure to mention this problem to your vet so he can check for a
urinary tract infection.
