3171.0. "Please give/take me as a Christmas present!!" by NACAD2::KRISTY (Sprouting horns around my halo) Thu Dec 21 1989 23:46

Please take me home for the holidays!! I'm in dire need of a home. I
have no home and am currently being taken care of by two separate
families who will lose their homes if they don't lose me.

I live in the north end of Nashua, New Hampshire. I'm an unfixed male
who is of unknown age, although I'm full-grown and I'm not missing any
teeth. I am quite healthy and don't have worms or mites. I have short
hair, being a tabby. I have a little gold interspersed with black, gray,
and silver and am a very friendly kitty. I weigh about 15-20 pounds. I
can live outdoors and indoors. I even ignore chinchillas (rodents of
unusual size (-:). I'm good with children, love attention, but please
don't bother me too much when I'm eating. You can pet me, but don't
pick me up then. I like to knead (I knead you!). One of my caretakers
is leaving for Vermont tomorrow afternoon (Friday, Dec. 22) and has
taken me out of the cold, despite being told not to by her spouse.
This caretaker works in Littleton, Massachusetts and could bring me in
with her or other arrangements can be made. Please let me know sooner
    than possible.

Call Kristy at 603-880-0959 before 10:30 pm or at dtn 227-3615 between
8:30-12:00 (Friday, Dec. 22 only) or 8:30-4:30 any other day. Thanks!

Well I am happy to say that this guy will be brought to
my parents house on Saturday!! He'll be a barn kitty but
he will be out of the harsh wind. This is a *major* milestone
for my folks because they never liked cats. My dad likes them
now but my mom will only pay attention to them for a little while.
No house cats. (the doggy wouldn't approve anyway!!) But don't
worry, he won't lack for love and affection. My parents love
animals as much as I do.

Nancy DC, do you have low-cost neuter certificates? I'm going
to tell my parents to get him fixed. With him being a barn cat
he will be able to get out if he wants to. I don't want him
to bring any more kittens into the world!!

He will be able to come and go as he pleases. However, if anyone
would like him as a house cat (he is a love) let me know and I'm
    	sure my folks wouldn't mind.

I believe he is a brown tabby. Big beautiful gold eyes. And
a big boy!! Definitely 15-20 pounds!!

This makes #4 that I've helped to place!! It feels great!! =)
(and this one I get to visit as much as I want!!)

JJ, I have applications. Either send me your address or I can
give them to Kim if you'll be seeing her.

"Whiskers" came to my folks house on Saturday. He was to be
a barn kitty. But he disappeared Christmas Eve morning and
hasn't been seen since. I hope he found a nice warm home
but unfortunately the nasty thoughts keep creeping in. Hit
by a car, froze to death etc. I've asked my folks to post
something in the paper so that if someone has found him I'll
    	at least know he's ok.

I tried, but failed on this guy....

    JJ,
You did your absolute best which is all we can ask of ourselves.
Try to think positively and keep us posted.

    JJ-

Sherry and I did the same for a stray in her area. We brought him to
a friend (who wanted an inside only cat) and the silly thing took off
the first chance he got. He has been seen roaming the area behind his
house andf the neighboring apartments (some have admitte dto feeding
him). I guess he did not want to be captured and probably is happier
doing 'his thing'. I'ts a shame we couldnt get him neutered first.

I'm sorry to hear that he took off JJ... Maybe the fright of all the
new smells and such really flipped him out. I'll be praying that he's
okay as we really came to care for "Whiskers". Thanks for trying to
    help!!

Thanks Kristy. I didn't tell you what happened cuz I didn't
want to worry you and I knew how much you liked him.

I talked to mom last night and still no sign of him. They're
keeping their eyes open and are checking the paper to see if
anyone found him. I just hope he hasn't ended up at the pound
    	or something.

I would go and check wherever he lived before your parents took
him. Chances are good he tried to make his way back there. Cats
are very territorial, and don't like changes in their territory.
One way to avoid this problem is to keep a new cat in until he adjusts
to the new territory. This happened to me twice with one of my
cats when I moved across town. She kept returning to the old house,
even though she had never been an outdoor cat. She would dash out
the door and be gone. Three days later, my old neighbors would
call saying that she was waiting for my on our old front porch.

I hope he's not going to try to come back to my place.... it's about 60
or so miles from JJ's parents' place.... I hope he's OK!!!

Have your folks called the pound, and talked to their neighbors, and
    posted signs around?

Unfortunately no. I asked if they would put an ad in the paper but
dad said he wasn't sure how to describe him. I told him but he didn't
say much. I may have to do it myself.

Don't get me wrong. My parents love animals but they've never
had a cat before and aren't sure how to handle the situation.
I just want to make sure he's ok.
