2982.0. "Annual Halloweeen Poll" by VAXWRK::SKALTSIS (Deb) Tue Oct 24 1989 00:24

Well folks, it's that time of the year again, so I feel that it is time
to start our annual Halloween poll.

Please reply to this note if you have a black kitty, and tell us of
kitty's plans for haunting the house.

I'll go first. I have three solid black cats, Eirene, Panther and
Nikolas. They are aware taht traditionally they will ride on a broom
so you can see their silloette against the moon, but they have updated
    their mode of transportation.

Nikolas who is pretty traditional, has been taking the electric broom
out for a spin. The twins, on the other hand, have been flying around the
house on the Eureka, fighting over who gets to steer the Vibra-Groomer
rug attachment. (You'd think that just once they could zoom over the
    braided rug!)

Anyhow, I'd be happy if I Panther would sit still long enough to model
    for the Jack O'Lantern.

Well, I have the traditional black cat with gold eyes - Isis. I'm
sure she'll just continue with her usual terrorist tactics, like
jumping on my back everytime I bend down, turning her butt to my
head and waving her tail frantically while sharpening her claws
    in my belt!

    	Missy is an all-black long-haired scaredy-cat! She's not
too good at being a haunt (unless I have something yummi
to share...) but she does sit on my chest with her face in
mine if I lay down on the couch to watch TV - waiting for
me to fall asleep so she can `suck the soul out of me'?????

Duke is our black kitty. An unhealthy one I'm afraid.
He's 10 months old and is the size of a 3 month old kitten.

But he is a feisty little guy and is ALWAYS hungry. He doesn't
meow. He screams. We have screaming matches...he'll scream,
I scream back at him etc... it's quite funny.

I'm sure he'll be his same old piggy self on Halloween.

Nikki is my all black, longhaired cat and he is adorable.
Unfortunately, like Sherry's Missy, he is a scaredy cat and will
flee from strangers at the speed of light! He has the most beautiful
face, eyes and coat; it's a real shame he won't stay around long
enough for anyone to see it!! His coat is so long it drags on the
ground and his stomach is slowly catching up!

It took quite awhile before regulars (friends) at the house believed
me when I said I had a black cat named Nikki.

2982.7HALLOWEEN PARTY.....BIMINI::SPINGLERTue Oct 24 1989 12:5534

I have two black cats with gold eyes.

Spots, (cat # 1) also has white underwear,
she is going to spend Halloween helping me answer the door, she
runs to the door when the doorbell rings and when the kids say "Trick
or Treat" she runs under the couch to hide. I guess she can't stand
the thought of Mummie giving away *FOOD*.

Panther the solid black with gold eyes is throwing a Halloween party
for all her friends. She invites them to dress up in costumes,
and have a wonderful time. She is even planning games.

Bobbing for Pounce, Pin the tail on the Dog, (she wants to get
a real dog,) Mouse, mouse, who's got the mouse, and of course she
is planning to haunt the house. All her friends that show up in
costume are invited to help. A seance will be held at midnight.

Panther is dressing up as a Sourceress, black seductive and elegant!
Spot is going as a Magician, (don't tell her I said so, but she
would make a very good comic magician. You know water squirting
    flower and all that.)

Refreshments will also be served, salmon, cavier, champagne and
tuna and anchovie pizza and beer for those who insist!

So Panther invites all the cats in this file to tell her what they
are dressing up as! Should be a spooky good time!!

    Feline haunted,

    Sue & Panther & Spot

This is OUR holiday! Ninja is a huge all black semi-longhair with
yellow eyes. When he yawns, his mouth is gaping and fearsome with
    all those fangs.

Ninja plans to spend the evening with his face in the food dish,
and later, a game of hide and seek.

His sister Pumpkin will be hiding all night, as she HATES visitors
in HER house. Pumpkin is a tortie, but looks kinda mysterious with
the mixed gold and black colors.

Pumpkin's treat is seafood Bonkers and Ninja prefers tuna, but no
matter how many treats with give them, we still get lots of tricks!

    Hi.....

I'm new to this file but thought that this would be a good entry
to start with. My all black kitty is named Sir Lance. He is noble
and trustworthy. Only recently he has become the terror of the
bunch. I have 3 cats. If he's not guarding the pumpkin patch
he's taking the newest edition to our family on a haunted journey.
See Lance doesn't like the new brat and is doing everything he
can to scare it away. I don't think it's working. I believe this
will keep up until Halloween and then he'll probably become the
    lovable cat he usually is.

    Hi...

Our Ninja is all black female version of .8 :-) ( we think she is a mix
of siamese and tabby, but we don't know). She has the cutest fact I
have seen...but right now she is busy terrorising (sp? ) our new kitty
(who doesn't have a name yet). I think that is pretty much her
    halloween occupation for now.

Algernon is our black adopted stray.... He plans to scare our visitors
by seeing how friendly he can be.

Black cats aren't the only good Halloween cats -- Nutmeg is a four year
old Calico that looks like her name (Patchy black, orange, white).
She is a very small cat for an adult, and her specialty is curling up
in unusual places for naps.

Last Haloween, we found curled around the stem on the top of our largest
Jack 'o Lantern!

I expect all 9 of our "kids" will do their best to make Tueday interesting...

My all-black short-hair is Nightmare. She scares the lving
daylights out of me in the middle of the night, by jumping up onto
the bed with a heavy THUD and then proceeds to tear the heck out
of my feet with her sharp claws.

Her son, Sneakers, is mostly black, with a little white beard
and two white "sneakers" on his rear paws. He also goes BUMP in
the night, frequently when fighting with his mom and sister.

Invariably, these nocturnal animals make the most noise when
    humans are attempting to sleep.

2982.14Ghosts, etc. WELKIN::STRONACHTue Oct 24 1989 19:3412
Well, Midnight has a friend to answer door this year -- Lightning -- both are
all black - green eyes sometimes gold. Lightning intends to sit in the
picture window to frighten all the goblins as they come up the walk
(Midnight has arthritis so can't get up there anymore) -- so, Midnight
(all 20+ lbs.) will hand out all the tricks and treats that he doesn't want to
eat himself. Taking into account he considers himself a Marine Cat, he'll
most likely have the Marine Running Tape on!! -- As Snowball and Boo Boo are
white they will be the ghosts (friendly ones like Casper)

Happy Halloween to all --

I have two black cats, Guinness and Murphy.

Guinness is a big, FAT, long haired Black with white under his tummy..
He has enormous long white whiskers and green eyes. The combination
of his girth, long hair and short legs remind me of a alligator
sometimes when he comes sauntering up the path to me me!

Murphy, Guinness' brother, is a littler more streamline, long haired
as well with white sox, also has enormous long white whiskers and
yellow eyes. Murphy is the crafty one of this terrible twosome
and thinks up the trouble that he later talks Guinness into!

I'm sure they will be up to their usual tricks of haunting the
neighbourhood, stealing from the neighbours and sneaking up on you
in the dark and scaring the heavens right out of the most composed!

Dad. His little sister, Princess, granted me permission to pet her and

Well if you could see my two long haired moggies you could see why
    they are named thus!

Guinness is stout, black with tips of white looks just like a long
cool pint (and a bit) of freshly drawn Guinness... Murphy on the
other hand is a bit less stout with a milder disposition... thus
    the name Murphy!

Of course Black Thunder will be making all sorts of noises. She will
be *thundering* down the hallway to check out all the costumes and what
treats she can steal (borrow?). She has been sitting in the big window
next to the ceramic pumpkin/kitty light with her ears back, eyes drawn
into little slits, and fur fluffed up. I think she is practicing for
    the *big night*.

White Lightning on the other hand, will make a *ghostly* appearance to
check out all the little children. The children don't have a *ghost*
of a chance of petting her because she is a fast as a *streak of
    Lightning*.

DejaVu is for-going Halloween. She isn't into strangers, especially
little ones. She will spend the evening hiding behind the bookcase. I
still haven't figured out how she manages to squeeze into such a little
    area.

I know Thunder and Lightning (and maybe Storm) will be going to
Panther's party. I just hope it doesn't *rain on their parade*.....

Limoges kept trying to leave with every kid that came to the door!
She would here the candy drop into their bags, and try to jump in
after it. She scared a little 3 year old fairy princess nearly
to death! I let Annie, the puppy, help me with the candy too, she

Panther enjoyed all the kids! Every time the doorbell would ring
she would run to the door and beg to be pickedup so that she could
greet the kids. (I remove the window from the top half of the screen

Sue, what a fantastic idea about the screen--would you remind us
of it next year? (Between all the activities of my stepdaughter's
senior year, our wedding and honeymoon, the usual summer chaos and
the first college departure, I'm beyond remembering anything.)

Melody, who is terrified of strangers, did very well. Since none
of the little ghosts, princesses, and 2 "Jasons" actually came into
the house, she figured that halfway up the stairs was safe enough.

Missy exhibited mild curiousity. She's my "slow" baby and just
kept trying to figure it all out.

Brittany, my brat, thought it was just the best time! We left
the big door open so Brit could see the kids coming up the walk.
Seeing a golden opportunity to try to sneak out, she positioned
herself on top of the chair next to the door to watch the goings on.
When it became clear that Mummy was on to her, she decided to get
up on the table and check out the candy bowl. Nope, nothing there
that she wanted. So it was over to the window sill to stretch
up and try to pull down the Happy Halloween sign. That didn't work
either and anyway, Mummy was watching so she crouched down on the
sill and started sniffing Daddy's favorite plant. Mummy said,
"Brittany, don't you dare" so she decided to pull the moss out of
the pot instead. When Mummy scolded about that, she turned partially
away and waited for Mummy to stop watching. (Mummy is getting a
lot smarter, tho.) Too impatient to wait, with lightning speed
she tried to get the moss again. This time Mummy YELLED so off
my little brat went to see what else she could get into.

Mummy is dreading April Fool's Day!

Barbara (Melody, Missy and Brittany--my adorable brat.)
