I've never heard of Aims. Do you know if it has ethoxyquin in it?
At the rate Flame is eating I"m going to have to put him on a diet
    soon.
      And Jesse too!

OH - of course...silly me! In that case, it does have ethoxyquin
    in it.

2947.4Science Diet "Lite"MAMTS7::TTAYLORLife Goes On, and On, and ...Mon Oct 16 1989 17:228
Why don't you try Science Diet "Lite" if that doesn't work ....

Terri's siamese Tia is a "blobber" (as she calls her), she has colitis
and got really fat and her vet recommended Science Diet. Tia has
lost all the weight and is looking good!

I didn't know Iams had a diet formula!!! I must buy some..

Speaking of my mumma kitty (who is approx four or five years old
according to the vet) has been gaining weight lately.

I have two cats and split a can of Kal Kan between them and then
put out only about a *handful* of Iams dry. at night they get another
can of Kal Kan, and thats usually it. This is a regular size can
of cat food, and I don't know what the problem is!! I mean, she
is starting to look *fat*. My baby kitty is fine. They both run
around the house like lunatics and I play with them too....

2947.6my guys like it.PARITY::DENISEAnd may the traffic be with youMon Oct 16 1989 19:377
I just picked up a milk container size package this weekend, I
happened to see it in a display at Agway in Plaistow. My guys are
eating it up, so it must taste good. We'll try it for a while, see if
some of the extra tonage disappears. The pieces are small and round,
a lot smaller than the regular Iams.

    re: .5
I split one can of CD between SIX cats. I know CD is much better
food, but an entire can of Kal Kan between two cats sounds like
alot to me. Are we talking 13 oz cans or the 6 oz ones. The CD
is a 15 oz can. They get about 85% of it.

2947.8how long will it take to lose 4 pounds?ASABET::C_AQUILIATue Oct 17 1989 10:4128
sorry about the spelling, you guys are right. silly me nancy but
what's the stuff that you were interested in? you know, the ingredient
with the long name? (smile)... i don't have the name in front of me to
    copy it.

anyhoo, science diet lite has been tried to reply to another replier
but they don't seem to like it. i've also tried feeding them 1/2 can
each in the a.m. and 1/2 each in the p.m. and mix dry in with both
those feedings but i'm finding shirly leaves her food around for a while
to munch on later and verne just gobbles it up before she gets back to
it. he weights in at 13.5 pounds and shirl is a mere 9 pounds. so, in
other words; verne better smarten up. i started feeding them
upstairs when they were declawed instead of in the kitchen and have
found shirl to like eating up there alone better. she won't come
downstairs to eat with the monster. she just wines at the top of the
stairs until i give in and bring it to her. i think she likes eating
alone more then anything. verne can be such a monster when he wants
    to.

so, back to the original note; i haven't had a chance to try this stuff
out yet because i'm trying to finish our science diet lite sampler first.
by the way things look it won't be for another week or so.

i hope they like it better then the science diet lite!

carlajeanne, a fat verne and a normal shirl.

Carlajeanne - that's ETHOXYQUIN and its in both Hills dry & Iams.
I wonder if any of the other manufacturers make a lite formula.
Maybe I ought to call Carnation and suggest that they develop a
    lite formula.

Oh no!! I split a can between them it has to be the smallest size
can available. Not like the "fancy feast" brand size but the regular
size.. I don't know the ounce. Its a small can! I can't even
see me trying to feed two kitties on a 16 ouz can. 8*) Here ya
    go (LUMP!)..

But I guess some people do that..

I still can't figure it out.. maybe because she was a stray once,
and after a year she finally feels comfortable so she's eating alot?
