| Joe, has your new daughter actually been tested. It seems that
doctors are always quick to assume that people are allergic to cats
without doing the proper testing. It would be a shame to find a
home for Mitties if she really isn't the problem.

P.S. Look thru this file, there are some very unique ways people
have discovered in dealing with allergies and cats!

| You are in a difficult position, since it is not
always wise to medicate a baby. I am allergic to
cats and am a moderately severe asthmatic during
the winter months (that's why I have six cats,
of course!) You can, over time, build up an
immunity to any particular cat, but again, this
is difficult for a baby.
Until you can find a good home for your cat, you
may try keeping the cat out of your daughter's
room altogether. This will give her a "safe"
place where she can breathe freely and she can
sleep easier as well. As Nancy suggested, an
air filter in her room would help a lot. I'm
hoping to get one myself this winter.
Hopefully, your daughter will outgrow her allergies,
and you can make cats a part of your life again.
Best of luck to you,

| Mary-Michael,

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah!
I too am allergic to cats (that's why I have three cats and a
rabbit). But I did not develop my moderately severe asthmatic
during the winter months until this past winter after six months
of living with my new stepchildren. Obviously, I am severely
allergic to kids -- but the doctor never suggested that I give
them away.
Maybe the child mentioned in the base note is actually allergic
to her parents! Maybe if they shaved off all their fur ....
Oh god, I am losing it.

P.S. I was the one who suggested to Mom that the kids come live
with Dad and me if she wanted -- she wanted. Then I got the
third cat for one child and the mini-lop for the other. Only one
more animal to go (for the youngest child). But at least I never
have to vacuum any more.
