2585.0. "he really is a unique kitty!" by CRUISE::NDC () Mon Jun 19 1989 11:34

I'm afraid that I might have given people the wrong idea about
Mr. Tymothee by tending to only write about the problems we're
having. As my vet reminded me, two months is not a long time
to give a cat to adjust - and as someone else pointed out -
to four new purrsonalities. I am not used to having any cat
problems that I can't handle relatively easily - and I guess
    I'm not being very patient.

so - I wanted to tell you a little about the great side of Tym.
when we first got him, and who knows how traumatized he'd been,
he slept in the closets all day. We never saw him until about
8:30 at night and then only for a minute or two. Now, he's
crusin around all the time. He greets me at the door when I
come home, and if he's out on the deck and I come to the window
he'll come running over talking the whole way. He's SO glad
to see me. The fact that I've been home all day, has nothing
to do with it. ANY time I pay him attention (and that's alot
of the time) he's THRILLED! He purrs very readily and plays
quite a bit, often with Dundee. I do think he's starting to
calm down a bit, because the episodes of overzealous playing
have decreased markedly. (I can tell when he's being too
rough because Dundee will hiss at him).
Yesterday I went upstairs to find Dundee & Tym asleep on the
bed and Isis sleeping on the cat tree.
Tym is soooooo soft. I love to pat him. The vet says he's a
shorthair, just very fluffy. (And he got a clean bill of health
and his shots on saturday.) He's great out on the leash and will
even walk with you a bit like a dog does. I think he could easily
be fully leash trained. Oh - and he comes when called!
I just wanted folks to know that he is a beautiful, loving, playful,
happy cat who tells me frequently how happy he is and that he loves
me. And of course, I love him too.
I guess I figured that any cat lover would automatically KNOW
    all the good points.

Does this mean you are keeping Tymothee?? I have been out of touch
lately (last two months) and don't know what has been happening. The
last I read, you were taking him to a shelter. I'm glad Dundee (what
a beauty) and Tymothee are getting along.

Sandi (mom to Lightning, DejaVu & Thunder)

P.s. How has Dundee done at the shows???

No, Sandi, we're not keeping Tym. If Mao were adjusting better
I would keep him. He's MY kitty. BTW - Tym occasionally does
the nibble-your-nose routine like poor little Miss Mew used to.
I also have to admit, that going from 4 to 5 cats was alot of work.
I guess, for us now, four is a good number. Jack had said that
if I placed Tym I could get another fold, but I think I'm going
to hold off on that for a bit - especially considering how vets
    costs are going up.

Anyway - Tym does have a new home :-) as of last night. He will
be going to live with Lt. Rick Woodford and his wife and Missy
(1 yr old spayed female) around July 1st when they all move into
new housing. BTW - Lt Woodford is stationed on the USS Constitution
maybe we should take an outing!

    thanks for your thoughts Sandi

2585.5Tymothee-Too goes homeCRUISE::NDCThu Jul 13 1989 12:0122
Well, its official. Tym went off to his new home last night. Tho
I must say he seemed less than thrilled about it. What a look I
got :-) "Hey what's going on here??" He'll have the new place
all to himself for a few days then the Woodruffs will be taking
on a trip to Pennsylvania to pick up his new housemate, Missy.
Just so he wouldn't get too lonely I packed him a care package.
    1 can of CD
Some Blue Seal kat kare & krunchies
    Mr. Mouse
    two "Cat balls" (little superballs)
a bit of Hadleigh House catnip
    A "Tribble"
and one of those cat toys with a ball hanging in a middle of a half-
sphear with four openings around the edge for cat-paws.

I'm hoping to visit Tym in a few weeks after giving him some time
to adjust. I'll let you know how its going!

Very appropriately - my first pictures of Tym showed up in the mailbox
    yesterday.

2585.6Tymothee gets a homeCRUISE::NDCWed Jul 19 1989 13:4712
I just talked to Susan (Tymothee's new mommy) to find out how
things were going. She says she'd never seen a cat who rides
as well as Tymothee. He rode all the way to Penn. to pick
up his housemate, Misty, and back last weekend. Susan says
there's still a little hissing going along but that Misty
will let Tymothee sleep with her so I'd say things are fine.

I can now consider Tym's new home permanent! I LOVE happy
    endings :-)
Thanks to all for your help and support.

    Nancy,

That's good to hear. I bet Tym misses you though, although from what
you told me, he went with a pretty good kitty knap sack!

2585.9Hmmm. I like the red ones best...CRUISE::NDCNancy Diettrich-Cunniff-I wanted it allMon Jul 24 1989 12:358
I found a reminder of Tym yesterday morning. Seems he dined on
the toes of two or three pairs of my shoe while hiding in my
closet :-) Fortunately, they were the cheap Fayva shoes and
not my good ones. I should probably warn Susan.......
I do miss him very much and am also very happy to have the
furry foursome back in good spirits. Mao is back to being
    "Patrol cat".
