2537.0. "Good try, Julie!" by CLUSTA::TAMIR (ACMS design while-u-wait) Mon Jun 05 1989 13:26

A funny thing happened in the bathroom this weekend. Julie, who just
can't stand to have me out of site, came running in while I was, ummmm,
well, I was peeing. When I was done, and after I wrestled the toilet
paper out of her paws, I did the noble thing and flushed. Running
water is one of her favourite things, so Julie jumped up on the seat to
watch. A few moments later, as the toilet had finished filling, I
heard something like a trickle and thought the toilet was leaking.
Nope, it was my little Julie, paws spread over the rim, peeing into the
toilet. I was overjoyed! So was Julie. We were both jubilant.

    Then she fell in....

That's great! Wish my guys would learn to use the toilet.
For Julie's next trick, she'll learn to flush afterwards!

oh my lorddyyyy - I need a tissue to mop my eyes! That does
take the cake - sure wish I'd been there to see that one!

Sounds like Julie and Lil have similar toilet habits except
Lil didn't think to use the toilet to wee - she just fell
    in!

That's GREAT!!! I keep hoping my guys would figure that out.
I mean, someone always has to supervise to make sure I"m
    doing it right.

Buttons goes crazy if you shut the door while you are in the bathroom.
Maybe I should leave the seat up from now on and she'll give it
a try too! I would be so Psyched if they would use the people potty!

I remember seeing an ad some time ago for a gizmo that would
supposedly teach kitties to use the potty; it sat on the seat,
and it had some special litter to fill it with. I think the
idea was that you got them used to going up there, then you
	took the pan away.

Looked pretty silly; too bad it's probably a crock...

2537.6They CAN be trained to go 'n flush!!CPDW::MCDONOUGHI'm a friend of THUNDERMon Jun 05 1989 18:367
My grandmother had a bathroom with the old overhead tank with the
chain hanging down, and she had a male Siamese who used to go in the
toilet and then leap up, hang onto the chain, and flush the toilet!!

I've seen him do it many times!

Oh, Mary, that's just great! I'll have to tell Sweetie what her
sister has learned to do. Sweetie also has the habit of running
into the bathroom every time she hears one of us go in there. She
lays down on the top of the tank and purrs and rolls around. Not
a problem with me, but we are just waiting for the day she rolls
into the bowl when John's in there.

My daughter wanted me to get a video on how to train Jasper to use
the toilet. Now, I say, don't I have enough to do?????? Sounds
like a great idea, if someone else would do the training for me.
You can be sure, miss bright ideas wouldn't get involved!

The only thing Jasper does with the toilet is hop up and drink the
water..........grosssssssss. Makes the grouch happy! (cause it's
    on HIS agenda.

2537.10A refreshing dip?!?MARKER::REEDA laugh a day keeps the blues awayWed Jun 07 1989 17:0013
Mary, that's great! Really got me laughing.

This morning I was in a rush and Brandy who usually keeps me company
in the bathroom followed me in a usual. Well I was turning around
and he was headed for the toilet (lid up). We collided mid-stream...
one human sprawled on the floor, one orange tabby landing halfway
IN the toilet. What really got me was, his jumpers (hind legs) didn't
propell him out of the toilet on the first attempt. He stood with
his front paws on the seat, a look of shear annoyance on his face,
completed by Yoda ears. And I was laughing hysterically on the floor.
Poor baby! What a way to start the day.

    Jack calls them "airplane ears"
And, Dundee can't do them :-)
2537.13YOSMTE::CORDESBRO_JOThu Jun 08 1989 16:258
We call them airplane ears too. Joui will do them when she is
stretching. Unlike most cats, she stretches while in a sitting
position, so it looks like she is only stretching her facial muscles
and her ears. Always good for a chuckle since it looks so strange.

I like the term "yoda ears" too.

Well, for those of you who saw pictures of Baby Julie, you can agree
that she raises 'yoda ears' to an artform!!

When she does airplane ears, she's got the wing span of a 727...

That's great. Toby sits and watches when I use the bathroom and
then stands on the seat to watch as the toilet is flushed. One
day I found him in the sink. I looked and I was hoping she
wasn't doing what I thought she was doing, so I scrubbed the sink
just to make sure. The next day my daughter can into my bedroom
and said "Ma - guess what Toby just did?" I looked at her and said
"he pee'd in the sink" We looked at each other and said "that's
disgusting". We now discourage him from doing that - he has also
tried the tub, but he hasn't tried the toilet yet.

When Jim and LandShark are in the bathroom together, I occasionally
    hear:

"LandShark, get outta there. LANDSHARK!! You're going to get wet!!
Stop it!!! You're not going to like it!! Stupid cat."
    mutter...mutter...
