2432.0. "CATS is coming to the Worcester Centrum" by VAXWRK::DUDLEY () Thu May 04 1989 20:26

CATS, the play, is coming to the Worcester Centrum on
Sunday, June 11, at 7:00PM. Employee Services & Rec.
is offering a $1.00 discount on the tickets.

Are there any FELINE noters who are interested in going,
and if so, would you be interested in perhaps meeting
beforehand for dinner? There are a few restaurants in
the immediate vicinity of the Centrum.

I saw CATS in Boston when it first came and really
enjoyed it. BTW, ticket price is $28.50 w/o the discount.

2432.3I want to see it, but is the Centrum a good place?ATSE::BLOCKBack in the High Life againMon May 08 1989 15:1811
AT MKO, tickets are available through the PACs -- I'd check there
	first.

A question for those of you who have already seen CATS -- how well do
you think it'll play in an arena-type place? I wouldn't expect the
Centrum to be a great place to see a play...

	Thanks,
	Beverly

2432.4My thoughts exactly!IAMOK::GERRYHome is where the Cat isMon May 08 1989 17:1314
I've been considering going to CATS at the Centrum, but having seen
it at the Shubert Theatre several years ago, I think it may loose
something in the large arena athmosphere. My husband thought that
they might only allow a certain section of the arena for the play,
I couldn't imagine being up on the 2nd balcony.

Alot of the play was the cats moving around the aisles of the theatre,
and I can't see how they can do that in the centrum. Although maybe
they'll make up for it with a larger, possibly multisided stage.

I'm probably going to go anyway, just cause it's so close to home.

re .4 I saw it at the Schubert last year, and I can't
imagine how they're going to adapt it to be seen
in the Centrum. (for the same reasons you had...)

HOWEVER, if you haven't seen it yet, GO. It is
definitely worth seeing, wherever it is!

Maybe they'll make a stage @ one area of the arena and have chairs
in the rest of the arena, like isles. I have been to concerts
@ the centrum andf that is what they do.

I saw the seating arrangement in the Worcester paper last
night. It looks like they are only using 1/3 of the arena,
in a `Special Theater Arrangement!'. The stage appears to
be most (if not all) of the floor, and seating is in a wedge
shape coming out from the stage. I didn't think they would
`waste' that much seating, but the company producing the show
    	probably insisted on it.
