2301.0. "hiccups" by BLKWDO::PARKS () Wed Mar 15 1989 14:21

I hardly ever get Hiccups, but this morning I had them BAD!
I was in the bathroom trying to put my makeup on without poking
my eye out, when Tsunami jumped up on the counter(she watches
me very closely every morning). After a couple of minutes I
noticed that Tsunami had hiccups too! I've never noticed her
hiccupping before. What a coincidence that we had them at
the same time! I accused her of getting hiccups just because
I had them, but she looked very surprised after each hiccup and
assured me that she couldn't help it.

Aren't cats funny when they have hiccups? This is one time
that she couldn't say "I meant to do that" because she didn't
seem to know what "that" was.

Thunder had hiccups the other night. I never realized that cats
got them. My other cats have never shown signs of them. Of course,
Thunder is not like other cats. It was funny watching her.

I get hiccups alot, and I cannot hiccup quietly. Portia has always
been my special cat and likes to protect me when I'm sick or upset.
She is so funny to watch when I have the hiccups since she runs
circles around me trying to figure out what is hurting me. She'll
attack anything unusual in sight. Then when I let out one of my
hiccups, she'll stop right in her tracks, turn around to stare at
me, and then start beating things up twice as much.

It's great when cats get the hiccups, my Tabby used to get them
frequently. His whole body would jump.

    Nancy,

Come over to my house, my two have them all the time. Last night
Charlie (my husband) and both cats had them at the same time. And
all four of us were in bed. They had such a good beat going that
    I couldn't stop laughing.

Nancy - yeah it was in a full-motion waterbed, so all of them hiccuping
and me and charlie laughing had the waves going... it was fun though.
