2207.0. "Sweetie = 1 tiger wrapped up in a pretty package!" by SALEM::DEFRANCO_J () Mon Feb 06 1989 15:42

Living with Sweetie is certainly an experience! She is much more
active that my other two cats were as kittens. I think her tiger
markings are very well reflected in her personality.

At this point, I don't think I have a pair of stockings that don't
have at least one tooth hole in them and the toilet paper has never
looked sorrier. We now have to keep the glass doors closed on the
tub because Sweetie has learned to remove the drain. What strong
little paws she has, I can barely take it out but she just pops
    it out like nothing!

I generally crochet at night but that is fast becoming a hobby of
the past. Sweetie just loves to chase the thread as its moving
up towards the hook. Actually, I have been letting her get away
with this because its the only way I can keep her on the couch next
to me. She loves to run from one end of the house to the next while
chasing her crushed up cigaret packs. When she is done playing
with the pack, she generally deposits it in our slippers. Strange habit,
    don't you think??

Sweetie is also great for getting locked up in closets. She is
so fast and quiet that I don't even realize that she is in them
before I close the door! I am forever doing the old cat count
to make sure I know where everyone is. Never fails, Sweetie is
always the missing one. She is usually in the bedroom or coat closet
when I find her. She is so cute when she comes out. Her head and
tail are both raised up straight in the air and she meows at me
as loud as possible (which is still almost unaudible) as if to say,
"why did you close the door mom, I was just looking!"

Actually, getting locked in the closet isn't so bad compared to
the possibility of getting locked in the refridgerator. We have
to be so careful now. As soon as that refridgerator door is open,
Sweetie is trying to climb in! I can't count how many times I have
pulled her out of the bottom shelf! Considering she doesn't like
people food, I can't imagine what the attraction is.

Oh well, who can figure out what goes on in the mind of a little
orange tiger cat?? Whatever it is, I'm having fun and I hope she
keeps her kitten ways forever! Then again, if she decides to give
up attacking my ankles, I don't think I would complain!!

I swear that the knack for causing trouble is somehow associated
with that orange tiger gene. Elmo, now at a feisty 10 months, shows
no signs of slowing down. He even runs around between mouthfuls
of food. He's always getting himself in the most ridiculous
situations, then has to call mom or dad to help him out.

Luckily he has knocked the "attack the ankle" habit. Now we have
to cure him of the bookcase to turntable diving trick. You got
it- he loves to jump from the bookcase and land of the stereo
turntable. Needless to say, he has trained us to leave the cover
    on.

Gee, do I remember a certain little kitten who sat around being a
perfect angel while her prospective parents agreed she was the calmer
of the two babies?? Well, you should see the other one!! Julie (also
an orange tiger) makes Sweetie look like the angel she is! Last week,
I found her screaming her head off standing on the top of a door! I
don't know how she got there but she did! I ran over to her and she
jumped onto me with every claw hyperextended. I've had to learn to
sleep without moving, as even the slightest twitch of a foot sends her
on a 'foot safari' that lasts for hours. When she wants me to hold
her, she simply shimmies up my leg and swats at me.

I have no socks or hose that have not been killed by Julie. Last
night, as I attempted to do laundry, she dragged a pair of panty hose,
2 socks, and a glove up from the basement and murdered them.

Then I look at that little face with the tiny nose (and huge ears) and
    I melt.....
