2152.0. "Anyone interested in entering the Concord NH cat show?" by PENPAL::TRACHMAN (ZhivagoCats, Ltd..The Inn is Full..264-8298) Wed Jan 18 1989 16:20

    I thought I'd put in a quick reminder for the Concord, NH
    cat show that will be coming up this April 1st and 2nd.
    Last year, some folks mentioned that they wanted to
    enter their cats - welllll, it's getting close to
    the time when you can send your entries in. If you
    would like more information about entering this show,
    please let me know. I will have entry forms and
    show flyers available for those interested in entering.
    The closing date for entries is March 11th, 1989.

    But, for those interested in saving money, we have
    an Early Bird Entry Fee, which is a bunch less
    expensive than the regular entry fee. The closing
    date for the Early Bird Entry is February 11th, 1989,
    less than a month away!

    If this will be your first time exhibiting, please
    let me know that also so I can send you some info
    on what to bring to your first cat show.

2152.1is this an open show?SALEM::DOUGLASWed Jan 18 1989 18:037
    Elaine,

    Is this show open to the Heinz-57 varieties? I've never been to
    a cat show and where I live in Concord, N.H. I'd enter my
    Tabbi-chew if it's open to CFA and unregistered cats.

2152.2Household Pets and Apparent Household Pets are welcome!PENPAL::TRACHMANZhivagoCats, Ltd..The Inn is Full..264-8298Wed Jan 18 1989 19:2723
    Hi Tina,

    Yup, thae Heinz-57 (Household Pets) is what I show. What
    ever is a Tabbi-chew??? I hope it is not a cat that would
    eat judges for lunch !! Yes, you can enter a CFA or an
    unregistered cat - or, you can register your cat with CFF
    if you so desire. If you enter the "CFA-registered" cat,
    just don't use your CFA registration number - if your
    cat is a purebred, I think you can show the cat once
    or twice with "pending" if you don't have a CFF registration
    number.

    Let me know if you want to register with CFF & I'll send you the
    information if you don't have it.

    We are also having an Apparent Purebred Household Pet class for
    those cats that look like (actually are purebreds) but are Pet
    Quality purebreds and are not registered. These cats can be
    registered as CFF Household Pets and can be scored for P.O.P.
    points for the show season.

2152.4What's in a name?.....SALEM::DOUGLASThu Jan 19 1989 10:0912
    RE: 2

    Hi Elaine,

    Well, a Tabbi-chew is a Tabby kitty that munches on food all day
    long and makes an oink-oink of herself, therefore the name Tabbi-chew.

    Yes, I'd be interested in signing up for the show and CFF.

    Thanks, Tina     mailstop: NIO/G1

    re:4 unreal! you really had me shaking me head over that one!
    I've got quite a few of that breed around.

    Ok, seems like there could be some Feline Babies in this show hall.
    Wow, that would really be fun!

    I will take the names in this note and send out show flyers and
    entry forms -

    How about from here on out that you all send me mail so I can keep
    track of it better - I don't want to misplace a name.

    Send mail to PENPAL::TRACHMAN DTN: 264-8298

    Also, let me know if you are a first-time exhibitor and I will send
    out a page or two with some basic stuff for dressing your cage and
    grooming, what you will need to bring with you for the day or two
    days, what the cage sizes are, information phone number to call,
    grooming tools (which can also be purchased at the show hall).
    Stuff like that!

2152.12Need Details for What is Involved?PBA::PETAGNAFri Jan 20 1989 17:0215
    I am interested in the Concord, NH cat show on April 1st and 2nd.

    I have never been to a cat show, let alone exhibited; but I have
    a money cat (orange, white and black) fluffy cat -- no special breed,
    which I might consider exhibiting, if I knew what that entailed.

    Can you tell me how to get information?

    I am at WJO::PETAGNA or on alin-1 -- Peg Petagna @WJO and my DTN
    is 282-1385, but I will be out of the office next Monday and Tuesday,
    January 23 and January 24, 1989 -- so best to send me mail.

    Thank you.

    RE: .10

    Entering some of my angels would be tempting, but I think I'll pass on
    this one. I'm expecting to come into some money in the near future
    (i.e., a tax refund), and I was thinking of getting another cat tree
    sans sales tax.

    Great! The cat tree folks ARUBACAT Trees will be at the Concord
    Show - their prices are MUCH LOWER than Cat House Originals, better
    quality all around, and will custom design to suit your space.
    Really great prices -

2152.15shows in Arizona?BLKWDO::PARKSThu Jan 26 1989 19:323
Does anyone know how I can find out about cat shows in Phoenix, Arizona?

Becky
2152.16YOSMTE::CORDESBRO_JOThu Jan 26 1989 22:588
    There is a show in Pheonix on the 25th and 26th of February. I
    have been thinking about going but I am not sure. This is a CFA
    show and has some good judges for me, but it is at least a full
    days drive from Morgan Hill, CA!

    There is one in Tucson on the 27th and 28th of May.

      Start getting yourself copies of Cat Fancy and/or Cats Magazines.
    They list the catshows coming up over a 2-3 month period.

2152.18finding out about CFA showsYOSMTE::CORDESBRO_JOMon Jan 30 1989 16:1313
    If you are interested in finding out about CFA shows, the CFA Almanac
    is the best place to look for them. All licensed CFA shows are
    announced in it, they don't always make it in to the cat magazines
    since someone with the sponsoring club has to remember to write
    to them and tell them about the show.

    The CFA Almanac is available from CFA, 1309 Allaire Ave., Ocean,
    NJ 07712 for a fee of $18.00 a year (12 issues).  It's articles
    and features are geared more towards breeders and exhibitors than
    cat owners, but it is a good publication. It also has pictures
    of cats that have recently granded or who deserve special recognition.
