2095.0. "Looking to save a kitten from the shelter" by SASE::CHENIS () Wed Dec 28 1988 12:46

    	Save a Kitten ...

Hi - My name is Ken - and as you can probably tell, I'm not
a very active notes writer/reader - but I figured this might
be a good way to help a little kitten out ... I have a good
friend who's son (5 yrs old) received a kitten as a gift for
his birthday - well, she tried keeping it, but her son thinks
of the cat as more of a tonka than a living thing - We have
asked around, but can't seem to find anyone looking for
a 4 month old kitten ... So, as one last try I figured I'd
give the notes files a chance - I really hate to bring it
to the animal shelter, but if we can't find a home for him
by Friday, (the 30th) that's what we'll have to do ... Sorry
for short notice, but something came up, and we have to go
to N.Carolina for 12 days, and can't possibly leave him alone.

    	So: the stats:

                    where the cat is located:
    			Leominster, MA -

gender (and if the cat has been neutered/spayed):
Male (not sure if fixed - he came from a pet shop)

                    age:
    			Between 4 and 6 months

    	            long-hair/short-hair:
             		Short-hair

                    coat pattern:
                    	Like Morris the Cat

    		    breed:
    			Tabby

                    size:
    			Small - 8-10 inches long ???

                    endearing traits
anything else you may think is important (indoor or
                    outdoor, shy or friendly, etc.)
He is very friendly, and loves to play - too
much almost - he always wants to have someone to sit
on or play with - He's been cooped up in an apartment
since he was tiny - but he seems to really want to go
outside - He is litter box trained and very clean.

Please let me know if you're interested, or if you know someone
who is, please have them give me a call ... Thanks ...

2095.1Try Kitty Angels, kittens have a better chance of placementCRUISE::NDCWed Dec 28 1988 13:3221
Try Kitty Angels in Tyngsboro. They are a no-kill shelter and if
they agree to take him you won't have to worry about him getting
put to sleep. Call first. 508-649-3013,3615.

Males usually aren't neutered until about 9 months old. I can
offer some low cost spay certificates to go with him as an incentive
to anyone interested in this little guy.

And "cooping him up" in an apartment isn't so awful! My four
are housecats and are very happy & healthy. Cats aren't necessarily
outdoor animals - it depends on where you live and your personal
    preference.
Good luck. Does anyone know about the chances of a pet shop cat
being FLV positive? That would be important to anyone with a multicat
household who's considering this little guy.

Good luck Ken. Sounds like the parents are doing the right thing
if they can't teach the child that the cat feels pain too.

2095.2we found a home ...SASE::CHENISFri Dec 30 1988 14:358
Thanks for all the help folks - got some mail messages etc, and
we were able to find a good home for him ... Gee, I guess the notes
files really do work - someone should tell NYNEX about this - it's
much better than the yellow pages ...

    					Thanks again ...
