1949.0. ""RULE the roost"" by FDCV13::JOHNSON () Wed Nov 09 1988 13:15

I'm back with another problem! Cocoa is now almost 5 mo. old.
He is a little *.#$.;@*. Whiskie is 5 yrs. old now. If Whiskie
comes into the living room in the evening Cocoa nips at her heels
until she goes back into the kitchen. He makes her sit on one
kitchen chair and if she tries to get down he rides her back or
nips at her tail or heels. She hisses so loudly it sounds like
an adult blowing his nose. She's so totally gentle she won't
fight back .... just hisses and growls. We've never heard her
meow unless she brings home a catch.

The thing is .... now that Cocoa is free of his halter they run
and play outside like good friends and very seldom fight, but in
the house Whiskie can do nothing or go nowhere. Cocoa's to be
castrated Dec. 5. Will this quiet him down any? We feel so-o-o
sorry for Whiskie. We pick her up and even try to bring her in
to sit on our laps and one of us will play with Cocoa to keep
his mind off of Whiskie ..... IT NEVER WORKS! He leaps up on
our laps and starts biting at her.

Whiskie ALWAYS slept every night with us but since Cocoa has
taken over the house as soon as Whiskie comes into our bedroom
he leaps off the bed and sends her back to her kitchen chair.
We've used the water pistol consistently ... it only averts
his intentions for one small moment.

WE PRAY that his neutering will "back him off a bit"!!
    Any suggestions?

Hopefully your household will be different than ours . . .

Our little Elmo is a complete and holy terror. At his first trip
to the vets, Dr. Norman said lets neuter him and it will calm him
right down. We waited afew weeks since Elmo had just moved in,
but didn't wait too long since we were getting more desparate by
the day to find a way to calm him down.

    It didn't work.

Elmo is still a holy terror. In fact, he can sometimes be worse.

As, I said, hopefully your household will be different.
