1925.0. "BONKERS OR TRICKS!" by VIDEO::TEBAY (Natural phenomena invented to order) Fri Oct 28 1988 17:07

Well-finally found the new numbers since Mom's system got moved
and I can once again get on the KitCatNet.

We cats agreed that we should let you know the true meaning of
    Halloween.

See Halloween is really "OUR NIGHT". You humans have changed it
through the years. This is the start of our new year. See a long
time ago -whoops- can't tell all of this. Anyway where we really
come from (and go to when we go through the magic cat door) this
night was the start of our New Year and the night that kittens
became cats and learned the sacred lessons.

Though the ages of course the real meaning has been lost. We
thought that FELINERS deserved to know. After all its been a
long time since we had a group of people who at least understand
part of our real nature. Now the Egyptians-those were the days!

Anyway trick or treat is real!

    And I want BONKERS!
(Molly and Fiver will also take Bonkers but Skeeter wants tuna
    and Ladybird chicken-fresh of course!)

P.S. Those black cats get soo snooty this time of year. See the
black cats became associated with Halloween because of black
being considered evil. Actually the first black Halloween cat
was named KLUTZY and was really a white cat who fell in the
    coal bin!)

Well back to the net I have to send Aja, Sweetie, Phadra and some
    others notes.)

    Punkie,

Purina has a new cat treat out called Whiskers. They are shaped
like little fishies and come in Salmon flavor and some other flavor.
We got a sample when Mom took us to the cat show in Oregon. Mom
can't find them in the stores here in California yet and we are
almost out! Maybe your mom could find them for you. We love them
and that is what we are asking for for Halloween (and Christmas
time too - in our stockings. Except for Tilly who is getting coal
since she always talks back to mom.)

    Laci and Lyscentia

Hiya fellow kitties! While my Mom was away last week, Chauncey
and I took the kittens to the store and found new 9 Lives Finicky
Bits cat treats. They're alot like Pounce. We got the real liver
flavor, and frankly, I don't know who's real liver they used, but
it's not my favorite kind! The kittens eat them, but they seem
to eat anything. I prefer Pounces, and Chauncey doesn't like any
of these things. Maybe he's waiting for Gerbers to come out with
    something.

Anyway, we've got two pumpkins here for Halloween unless someone
out there is silly enough to adopt them. Ooops, here comes my Mom!!

    Bye!!
Honey (it's really Hamilton, but my Mom calls me that awful name)

Mom found us those new Whisker treats last week. We think they
are the Purrrrfect end to a long day. We don't know why mom
got so upset when we took the box off the counter during the
night and finished them all off ... we were hungry!! We're trying
to convince her to go buy more of them. We live in Southern
Californie (hey dude) and our stores have them ... at least
that's where mom said she got them. I'm sure they'll be up north
    really soon.

Purrs, cuddles and tummy scratches ...

1925.5 ! CIVIC::JOHNSTONa pole in my right half-plane? pfthhhh!Mon Oct 31 1988 16:5332
Last night a bunch of small monsters came up to our big window and
yelled the dumbest things, they just kept coming and coming and
mother had to bribe them repeatedly with foil wrapped treats to
make them go away! I asked for a treat of my own, and mother let
me have one, and I want to tell you _right_Now_ that if your mother
gives you something orange and shiny with caramello written on the
side, DON'T TAKE IT!!! It will make your teeth itch.

I sat on the stair where I could keep a dignified eye on the comings
and goings, but Cardigan kept stretching up on the big window and
purring and asking those stupid small monsters to rub her tummy.
I love her very much and all, but I was so _embarrased_ that she
would behave like such a slut with no dignity or _anything_. I
kept yelling for mother to make her stop, but mother thought it
was _Cute_!! I know my dad was ashamed too because he hid where
    no one could see him.

Maggie, that grumpy golden older woman, sat on the bottom stair
with her back to the big window and her tail twitching. I guess
    that showed them!!

After the monsters stopped coming, I was so keyed up that I made
my dad lift up the loveseat so I could get my kitty toys. My
favourites are named Codorniu, but the ones named Moet are almost
as good. I played and played and played long after my mother and
dad went to bed. Then my dad came downstairs and pushed all my
    toys under the loveseat again.

It was a good thing, too, because I was EXHAUSTED!!

1925.6Hi there!!!SWAT::COCHRANEMon Oct 31 1988 19:1613
HA,HA! We finally figured out how to work this thing!!! I've never
seen Halloween before, but Charm's been telling me about it, and
it sounds neat. Charm's old, she's seen lots of them! I don't
like to eat candy, but it is fun to bat it around the kitchen floor!
I bet Charm would eat candy if she got a chance, she eats everything!!

Oh, well, since I'm on the computer, I'd better go decimate Dad's
mineral collection. They'd think there's something wrong with me
    if I didn't!!!

    HAPPY HALLOWEEN FELLOW KITTIES!!!

What an annoyance! All these brats begging at the door -- who do
they think they are, stray cats? And Gunther, the big dope, what's
he doing just looking at them all? He should be protecting the
territory and barking them off the property, c'ept the lady seems
to think this is fun or something...

    Geeze!

    Bzzzzz......knock-knock...

Mommy, mommy -- someone's at the door!!!

Who is that under the door? What are all those sounds?

Are we having company? What, you don't want the butter-creme
chocolate? Sure, I'll have it -- mmm...

1925.9They were so proud of meYOSMTE::CORDESBRO_JOWed Nov 02 1988 17:5730
Mom didn't give me any treats this Halloween so I pulled a trick.
I heard mom in the next room playing with Kalliste so I pushed the
screen out and walked down the window sill to see what she was doing.
It took a bit of scratching on the glass to get her attention but
finally she pulled up the blind to see what was going on.

Boy, what a funny expression she had on her face when she saw me!
She went running out of the room screaming for dad! I must have
really scared her good. I was about to go back inside (I am not
allowed outside, so I had to go back in eventually) when I noticed
one of the kitties from down the street in our yard. He is always
comin' up to the window to tease me. This was my big chance to
get even! He came over and rubbed his cheek on mom's planter box
and that was the last straw! I puffed myself up like the Halloween
cat and started chasing him down the block. I was kinda scared
that he might turn around and want to fight (I am usually not very
brave) but he turned and saw me and kept running! It felt really
good to be brave for a change so I kept chasing him.

Next thing I know, there's mom and dad screaming at the top of their
lungs like manaics, and running after me and the other cat. The
other cat must have heard them to 'cuz he stopped running and I
bumped right into him. Boy was he mad! It is a good thing mom
and dad caught up with us then because I lost all my courage and
I think that other cat might have wanted to fight.

Mom carried me back to the house in her arms, kissing me and kissing
me. She was really proud that I was so brave to protect our house.

1925.10Just for the recordYOSMTE::CORDESBRO_JOWed Nov 02 1988 18:0718
Winston has it all wrong, I'm afraid.

    1) I ran screaming from the room when I saw him OUTSIDE on the
windowsill because he isn't and outdoor cat and I needed my husband
to help me get him back in. Not because he scared me.

    2) As he said before, he is not very brave usually, and the other
cat was quite a bit bigger (and a tom cat, which Winston is not)
I was chasing them to help protect Winston from the other cat.

    3) I carried him back in my arms because he freaked out when he
saw the carrier that Ken had brought out.

    4) I was kissing him all the way because I was sooooo happy that
we had found him and that he was safe.

I was helping my mother do her economics homework last night, or
rather, I was telling my mother to stop doing the boring stuff so
I could read about the cats...anyway...I see that Milo has been
in here spreading evil rumours about me in 1925.5...oh yes, I forgot
    to say...This is Cardigan.

I've been a read-only cat since May. I'm _not_ a slut, no matter
what Milo or my dad say. I'm just very social and affectionate
and fluffy. I'm actually so affectionate and fluffy and gentle
that my mother calls me her Furry Princess [she'll be soooo embarrassed
I told because she knows it's a nerdy dumb pun] and often behaves
    as if I'm a cuddle-toy. I'm not a cuddle-toy either.

Anyway [again]. When the travelling monsters came to the big window,
it occurred to me that they had seen me from the street and wanted
to pet me...after all, everyone always does, even Milo and my dad.
Because I'm gentle and fluffy and very social, I couldn't disappoint
them. I just don't have it in me. It's a shame that my mother
gave them things that upset them so much that they had to leave
without petting me. It must have been awful for them.
