1816.0. "Cherry Pop" by WEFXEM::COTE (Argh, {yawn}) Mon Oct 03 1988 11:31

    Can someone who attended the Boston show fill me in on this cat?

    There's a large article in today's Globe about her.

1816.1Boston show...stuffDRFIX::IVESMon Oct 03 1988 14:2117
    Hi Edd.

    Went to the Boston Show but can't tell you anything about this cat.
    I read the article this afternoon. (One of my engineers gets the
    Globe.)

    I was disappointed personally with the show. When I got home and
    saw my Mocha I realized I had the best looking cat, at home waiting
    for me. Part of our mission for going to the show was accomplished
    though, my daughter and her husband bought a new kittty at one of
    no kill shelter booths.

    As we were leaving I saw the Rex that was Peach colored and it was
    having it's picture taken and fussed over. All I can say is, "To
    me there nothing like a "fuzzy" cat to hug and cuddle."

    Hi Edd,

    I showed at this show, and I thought it was awful!

    You didn't miss anything.

    I had fun...but only because of all the freebie samples and coupons
    and because I got to meet my Ragdoll breeder, hug her cats, and
    get more baby pictures (is he ever CUTE)! Oh, and I also got to
    meet my good friend, Barbara Ives, close up and in person!!

    Elaine - I missed you AGAIN! What awful timing. Who did you show
    and how did they do?

    But like all of you, I was very disappointed with the show itself.

1816.4Too bad it wasn't "fun for all"!BRUTWO::SOBEKMon Oct 03 1988 16:1429
    I feel kind a' guilty because I went to the Boston show on Saturday
    and had a great time. I spent all day talking to cats and cat people
    and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. My friend and I finally
    left Saturday evening as they were turning out the lights. We were
    there all day, but, I'll have to admit we never even saw any judging ..we
    ran out of time! ....with the exception of the Super Cat class that
    was done on stage. This class was limited to cats that had been
    rescued from humane societies or shelters. I think the idea behind
    it is great and I overheard several people buying carriers from
    vendors to take their new "shelter cat" home ...so, I guess it worked.

    Though I fell in love a hundred times Saturday, I also felt that I saw
    the prettiest cats when I returned home ...but I knew that before I
    left home in the morning! Could it ever be otherwise?

    As a spectator it was nice to have room between the "benches"
    so you could see all the cats that were caged there without having
    to squeeze through, but I can't imagine trying to cope with this
    show as an exhibitor. With 12 rings judging and everything spread out
    so much it must have felt like running a marathon all day! The
    many people exhibiting there deserve alot of credit for being pleasant
    and friendly while having to tolerate such difficult conditions.It
    must have been a trying weekend for all the participants. I hope
    the next show is fun for everyone, the way it's supposed to be!

    Sorry, I can't tell you anything about Cherry Pop either. I'll have
    to look for the article. I was fascinated by the "wild" Aby that
    had been trapped and imported to the U.S. What a handsome boy ..and
    sooo friendly.
1816.5A very tired exhibitor with a rarin' to go Cat!EDUC8::TRACHMANE.T.'s ZhivagoCats....DTN: 264-8298Mon Oct 03 1988 16:3520
    Roberta, I looked for you too! I was benched down the row from
    your breeder! I spoke with her for a minute and told her that
    if she didn't get that baby to you soon, that your terminal
    probably would explode!! She laughed! She seems very nice.
    Those babies she had with her were adorable. I left her
    cage quickly with my hands in my pockets.

    Katenka was there - what an experience for her. I'm really
    too tired to even type today...I feel like I like I have been
    run over by an elephant. Katenka is FINE! Full of energy and
    ready to go again. Of course, I held her most of the two days.
    It was either hold her and stay down on the ice (rings) or trudge
    back to the bench and then drag her out and walk down again. She
    is such a pleasure to hold and show, that I really enjoyed having
    her so close for 2 days. Even through all that mess, she was
    a doll baby.

    It was nice seeing you again Barbara!!!!

    "Cherry Pop", according to the article, is a champion red persian
    from Florida. Supposedly, she caused quite a stir at the show. I
    was curious as to how much was fact and how much was hype...
