1786.0. "LEUKEMIA (FeLV) TESTING INFO AVAILABLE" by BRUTWO::SOBEK () Fri Sep 23 1988 14:25

    While at my vets last night I picked up a print out from the February,
    1988 issue of Veterinary Medicine which describes the methods of
    testing for FeLV currently being used. The article, which covers
    material similar to the one which appeared in the September, 1988
    issue of Cats Magazine, ...takes it a step further. In simple language,
    and with the use of clearly depicted flow charts, it describes the
    type and timing of the testing and vaccination proceedure ...defining
    it between healthy, exposed and ill cats. Also noted are the "odds":
    % of infected kittens in litters born to carrier queens, % of infected
    cats who develop immunity, etc.

    The testing methods are much more "specific" than they were even
    a short time ago and I found the article to be very informative.
    I would be glad to share the article with anyone who is interested
    ....just send your address to me at BRUTUS::SOBEK.

    The December issue of Cat Fancy has an article about FeLV ...testing,
    treatment and the three current vaccines as well as some new ones
    expected in the future. If anyone who doesn't get Cat Fancy would
    like a copy of the article, please send your name and mail stop
    to me at ISLNDS::SOBEK and I'll send one out to you.
