1752.0. "Beautiful Tiger Kitten needs home..." by AIMHI::OFFEN () Fri Sep 09 1988 16:29

Ok gang. Another little kitty needs a home.

This one was dropped off in the middle of the road and left to
fend for itself (have I tugged your heartstrings yet??). An
elderly women saw this and took the cat in for a week. She
is not allowed to have pets so she sort-of dropped it off with
my daughter (who is a sucker like her mom) to try to find a
home for it. My daughter lives in a little 3-room apartment and
already has two full-grown cats. She really can't keep this one
even thou she already loves it.

Pepper (my daughter's name for him) is about 6 months old. He is
a grey tiger with a white chest and four white booties. He is very
clean and LOVABLE and is kitty-box trained. He has a beautifully
marked face and already gets along with Star (who hates every other
    cat).

Pepper is currently in Manchester, NH but can be brought to someone's
home if it isn't too far away. The only other option I have is
to bring him to a Humane Society (No-Kill) Shelter.

Does someone have room in their home (and their heart) for Pepper.
I guarantee that you won't be sorry. He loves to be held and talks
    to you.

I can't take him because I already have 3 of my own and just
introduced Thunder to Lightning. She only accepts a new kitty
    every other year.

Who out there in Feline Land can help us out?????

    Sandi (Lightning's, DejaVu's & Thunder's mom)

This is a long shot I know but I remember very recently the
Nashua Telegraph had a lost ad for a gray striped kitten. But then
again ya never know.... Would you like me to dig it up tonight
and maybe give whomever a call with the phone number?

1752.2So many needing love...BRUTWO::SOBEKFri Sep 09 1988 19:5424
This must be the week for tiger foundlings. While working at my
vets last night there were five. One has already found a home. Three
(1 lh male & 1 sh male & 1 sh female) look to be about 11 wks old.
The are absolutely adorable. Pretty, friendly and playful. If anyone
is interested in them you can reach me at BRUTUS::SOBEK.

The fifth one was found last night on a street in Lowell. This little
guy looks to be about 2+ weeks old (can you believe it!) and is
in pretty rough shape. He was cold, hungry, blind (permanently most
likely) and terrified. Makes you wonder how some people sleep at
night! A tube fed meal, treatment and a soft bed in an "incubator"
with a "warm fuzzy" and he fell into an exhausted sleep. I guess
he's got a home with a woman who specializes in caring for handicapped
animals ....if they can pull him through. It's a real heartbreaker...

Re: .1 It's worth following up on. We had a similar situation
with a dog recently. We searched through old papers at a local
store for an ad a friend had mentioned. My husband called the number
on the far-out chance that it was a dog he had spotted in the local
pound that day. It was the right one! It had been missing for three
weeks. A fellow had left the dog with his granddaughter while he
was away and the dog had escaped. The entire family had been searching
frantically. Oh, what a happy reunion for person and critter! Give
it a try. If it works out it will make your day!

re the Blind kit - I didn't know that any kittens could see at
    2 weeks.

1752.4We can TRY to win they all..BRUTUS::SOBEKMon Sep 12 1988 13:3121
re: .3 I believe kittens usually open their eyes within 10 days.
As to how well they actually see at this point, we'll have to look
to our more experienced breeders for that information. (I'm in the
process of searching for my first Birman to begin a breeding program
so I welcome all information along these lines..) In this kitten's
case, he was 2 weeks+ (probably not 3 yet) and the vet's exam showed
damage to the eye (from infection and trauma) which he felt "probably"
    meant permanent blindness.

On Saturday I made an emergency vet run with a friend's cat who had
a toothache ..so I had a chance to check on "the little guy".
Unfortunately he lost his battle on Friday. I'm trying to console
myself with thoughts like "it's probably just as well", but it's
alway sad to see one go. At least he had some comfort for a while...

Re: Base note. Any luck finding a home for Pepper? He sounds like
    a sweetie.

1752.6Home Still Needed./.AIMHI::OFFENThu Sep 15 1988 19:1614
Ok gang. I just called the number that Kim gave me. It wasn't
Pepper's owner. Her cat is a female with a Reflecting Flea Collar.

I did give her the 800 # for Lost and Found to see if they can help.

We STILL need a home for Pepper. Can someone help us. He is SO
LOVABLE. I just know SOMEONE would be glad to receive it.

    		PRETTY PLEASE ... HUH...HUH...HUH....???????

Just got off the phone with my daughter and she is bringing Pepper
to the Nashua Humane Society (BOO-HOO). She just can't keep him.

She talked to the people there and they said they would work hard
to find Pepper a good home.

Kim, want to keep an eye on him??

Sandi (I hate doing things like this.)
