1726.0. "How to live with a Neurotic Cat" by GYPSC::SHIPLEY (Is there life after DEC) Thu Sep 01 1988 10:12

I've checked as many notes as possible but nowhere do I find a
reference to a book I own called "How to live with a Neurotic Cat".

One of the funniest and truest books about living day to day with
a cat with excellent cartoons and some incredible home truths...

{Excerpts reproduced below are extracted without permission of the

How to Live with a Neurotic Cat
    	written by Stephen Baker
	published by Grafton Books 1987
    	first published Granada Publishing 1985

    ISBN 0-586-07376-0

"A recent census taken among cats shows that approximately 100
per cent are neurotic. That estimate is probably on the low side.
The reason for their neurosis is simple enough. It's you. Consider
this. Your cat loves everything about you; your living room couch,
the food you eat, the bed you sleep on, your television set. He
enjoys sharing these things with you. Yet, many owners take up more
space on the bed at night than their cat; and change channels
indiscriminately; and refuse to offer a seat to their cat at the
    dining table..... "

"Cats are not born neurotic. They usually bcome so a few minutes
    after birth...."

"If your dog and cat don't get along, talk to your dog. He is
the only one who will listen... "

"Have plenty of large towels available when you bathe a cat.
You will need them to dry yourself off...."

"The best place to keep food out of a cat's reach is in your
safe, provided he doesn't know the combination... "

"Explain the rules to your cat. Then follow his..."

    And more and more....

Recommended reading for all of you out there...

1726.1GREAT book!MARRHQ::KORCHNAKThu Sep 01 1988 12:149
I bought that book about 7 or 8 months ago. I was laughing so hard
at some of the parts I was crying! Especially the time schedule
of a cats day! It was so true to form that I was dying!

I DEFINITELY would recommend it for anyone who owns a cat!

Cheryl (Shanti & Charlie, who I bet collaborated with the author
    on writing this book!)

1726.2If you haven't read it .. buy it!LAIDBK::RESKELife's a mystery & I haven't a clueThu Sep 01 1988 14:3312

A friend gave me that book for Christmas last year. We both have
cats and spent most of Christmas morning read the book and laughing
our heads off. I must admit that T.C. (only had him then) didn't
understand what was so funny. 8^)

    Definitely worth reading!!!!!!!!!!!
