| Well, I went to the open house last Sunday and thought you may be
interested in what I found out.
It was late in the day when I got there and there wasn't a large
crowd (although I heard there was a good turn out in the morning),
so I was able to spend about an hour speaking the the vet tech.
She was very nice and quite informative. She has been there since
February and the new management took over in March. I expressed
my concerns about the rumors I had heard regarding the previous
management and their policies regarding adoptions, euthanasia, etc.,
and she told me that much of what I had heard was probably true.
However, things have drastically changed since March.
Adoptions are less restrictive now. The only reason for not allowing
an adoption to a home where there is already a cat is if that cat
is not nuetered/spayed. It no longer takes 4 visits, one is
sufficient. I asked about foster parenting and found they do not
have a policy on this. The only time it is done, at this point,
is perhaps when a young litter comes in minus the mother and they
need to be bottle fed. They will then ask for volunteers.
I was also told that animals were only put down now in extreme cases
(serious illness or injury) and that they were kept until adopted.
She said when euthanasia was necessary, she was the one responsible
for doing it. She became very emotional when speaking on this subject
and I felt she was very sincere.
I was impressed with the cleanliness of the facility and the sincerity
of the staff. And both my husband and I signed up as volunteers.
