1599.0. "O.K. you guys - rise and shine!!" by GYPSC::SHIPLEY (Is there life after DEC) Fri Jul 29 1988 09:42

I had a phone call from my wife yesterday (not an unusual occurrence
8^)} ) and amongst other pieces of news the following story came out.

It starts at six o'clock in the morning with all cats asleep, Primo on
my wife's pillow as normal. Suki is asleep alongside my wife at the
edge of the bed. Scooby is asleep at the foot of the bed. Little One
is asleep in the lounge (lucky for him). Primo wakes up. My wife is
woken up by the counterpane being slowly pulled off the bed. She looks
up sleepily in time to see Suki slowly being tumbled from the bed onto
the floor and waking up with a "what the H**L's going on now?" look on
her face. Scooby then vanishes off the end of the bed with appropriate
surprised cat noises. While unsympathetically laughing her head off,
my wife notices the cover still vanishing out of the bedroom. She gets
up and follows it into the lounge where she finds Primo (thirteen
months old !!) still towing it across the floor with teeth, paws and
claws. This cover is from a double bed so you can appreciate the size.
"What are you doing with that ?", she asks Primo. No reply, still
tugging. "Come on, back to bed". "O.K. mom". Return of cover to bed,
Primo to pillow. A little more sleep. Two very wary cats return. All
	live happily ever after.

	And I missed it. Rats.

What would we do without them?? (Ans. sleep better 8^)} )

That isn't fair! Here I sit, sniggering out loud in my office -
all my neighbors will think I'm loony! (Of course, if they don't
know it by now they'll never learn...)

Loved it - it's just so, so - feline!

That's a great story...I couldn't stop laughing but it also reminded
me of Dillan when he was a kitten...

My other half used to keep his small change on the bedside cabinet
(rather than have a pocket full of pennies) and it kept disappearing.
We thought at first we may have had a Magpie come in through the
open bedroom window until oneday I was changing the bed and Dillan
sneaked in (I don't think he realised I was stood there watching)
and stole a 2 pence piece off the table and carried it downstairs
to the lounge. I followed quietly, intregued (sp?) by what he was
doing to find him battering the money around the lounge for a
while and then it shot under the armchair. I pulled out the armchair,
and the other chairs to find about 25 pence in pennies under the
    furniture.

I laughed so much then I cried my eyes out.

My wife is a nurse who works every other weekend. On weekends when
she works she lets Lucky out at 6 am on her way to work. On weekends
she doesn't we like to sleep late. Not Lucky!! One Saturday morning
she went to work and forgot to let him out so he came in the bedroom
and jumped up on the bed and tried to get my attention. I pushed
away so he MEOWED. I rolled over and hissed at him and he ran to
the door. He MEOWED again. ( I wasn't going to let this SFB cat
[SFB=Shit for Brains] run my life!!) I threw my slipper at him and
he ducked out of sight and MEOWED MEOOOOOOWED some more so what
can you do?? I got up and let him out. The next Saturday we were
trying to sleep in and the dog is sleeping on the floor beside
the bed on my wifes side near the door. Lucky apparently came
in the door past King and jumped up on the bed and walked up on
my wifes back and meowed. I told him to shut up. Next thing we
know, King is barking and trying to run on the hardwood floor
(scratch/craaaaaaaaaash/ BARK_BARK/BANG) and ran into the door
against the wall as he tried to get away from whatever had scared
him into instant action. There on the floor calmly looking at
ME was Lucky with a mouth full of hair. Meow(please put me out)
he seemed to be saying. The next Saturday I was awake waiting for
him when he came in and jumped up on the bed. I rolled over quick
to grab him and he jumped off the bed ahead of my grab and landed
right on Kings back and part of his stomach. (Scratcccccch/crash/
Bannnnnnnnng/Bark Howllllll) King was up and off thru the door
as fast as he could scratching the floor all the way and Lucky
was on his back with all 4 claws dug in to hold on! What a sight!!
Poor King. The expression on his face was pure Terror. Do cats
plan out ahead of time how to get their way or does it just seem
that way??? Well, needless to say, now when I go to bed at 1 or
2 am. Saturday morn I let Lucky outside(no 80 degrees is not too
cold or too hot for him to be out!!) so we can sleep late. He
now goes out and catches rabbit parts and leaves them on the rug
on the back porch for my wife to find Saturday morning that I
have to dispose of!! Sound Familar?? And stop that laughing!!
    It's not THAT funny...;-) ;-)
Maybe I learn harder than you guys.. I don't know!!! Ya own
a cat and ya pay a price!!

Ken, I can't stop laughing! I'm lucky if I get to sleep until
8 or 9 on the weekend - if I feed up just before I go to bed
late Friday night, it helps a little. They go down and eat,
but then they get rowdy and play & crash into stuff, then
do the Indy-5000 around the house, the bed, and my body.
I'm lucky if I have any skin left on my face after they
    finish! Sleep??? sure ... someday...

Sy doesn't let us sleep in either. His way of waking us, is to
pat our faces with his paw. If that doesn't work he will purr in
our ears, then he will nibble on our chins. If he gets pushed off
the bed, he is like a pogo stick, right back onto the bed. He
does all of this until we get up and feed him. The part that really
angers my SO is that sometimes Sy has food, all he wants is company
    while he eats. LITTLE STINKER!!!

oh Yeah! And if I try and bury myself under the covers to avoid being
poked in the nose, Nick simply reaches under the covers and feels around
for my face until he finds it....merrily purring all the time! sigh.
I remember when I used to be able to sleep past 7:00 in the morning on
Saturday....or Sunday...
