1548.0. "Birman,Angora,Ragdoll?" by SPIDER::HOPKINS () Thu Jul 14 1988 03:12

	We'd like to become parents of a kitten or two.
	We've been reading up on some of the different breeds,
	and learned that the Angora, Birman and Ragdoll seem
	best suited to our life style.

	Does anyone know of any breeders in the New England area?

    There is a Turkish Angora Breeder in New Hampshire. Dorothy Metcalf
    in Malden, MA breeds Ragdolls. As far as Birmans go, there are
    no Breeders in New England; however, I visited a cattery in Alexandria,
    Virginia back in June, and her Birmans are absolutely gorgeous!
    She has been breeding for 7 years and her kittens are very healthy,
    well-adjusted, and also well trained. Her name is Sheri Moreau.
    JoAnn Cordes Brown of Digital in Santa Clara breeds Birmans. Perhaps
    you can send her mail at JULIET::CORDESBRO_JO and she can give you
    Sheri's phone number. Sheri has kittens now which will probably
    be ready to go very soon. I would highly recommend her. There
    is also a breeder in New Jersey. I am sure JoAnn has an updated
    list.

    Dorothy can be reached at (617) 322-2695. I don't remember who
    the Angora breeder is in New Hampshire, but will look in my Cat
    Fancy magazine tonite and post it tomorrow.

    By the way, Dorothy is a tough person to get ahold of. Try calling
    her in the evening after 6:00 p.m. This is the only time I was
    able to reach her as she works all day and shows frequently on the
    weekends.

    Hope this helps.

1548.4Yup, it's Sharon all right!FSHQOA::RWAXMANA Cat Makes a Purrfect FriendThu Jul 14 1988 15:153
    Thanks, Elaine. Sharon is the woman I couldn't remember in .1 who
    breeds T.A.'s.

1548.5Flake is my favorite!EDUC8::TRACHMANThu Jul 14 1988 18:103
    I love to play with her kitties at the shows! My favorite T.A.
    is a cat named Flake - a real beauty - Sharon let me put her in
    one of the rings at the Boston show!! It was fun!
1548.6Flaky has a fan 8^)BUFFER::FUSCIDEC has it (on backorder) NOW!Fri Jul 15 1988 21:0611
Flaky's *real* name is Snowflake. (What else would you name a snow-white
long-haired cat? Especially after you named the littermate Blizard!)

I don't think they have any T.A. kittens currently, but Norma said that she
intended to do some breedings "real soon now", so it would be worth-while
to call so they'll call you back when they do have T.A. kittens.

The (seems like thousands) horde of available kittens at both the Roy's
house and mine are all Tonks.

    RE: 6

    Boy, are you right about that Ray. She is so beautiful. Blizard
    is cute, but Flaky has a sweet face - I am a real sucker for a
    pink nose a white fur. If any of you ever get to any of the
    local shows, keep an eye out for her and watch her destroy her
    cage!!  It's fun!

    I have just bred Joui (Sacrechat's Jouissance of Mysinhs - sealpoint
    Birman female) and expect her litter around the 20th of September
    if you decide on a Birman. She was bred to my own male this time
    and there is a chance that we may get a blue kitten or two.

    I also have many friends throughout the country that breed Birmans
    and would be happy to recommend someone if you are interested.
