1528.0. "ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ" by AWARD1::HARMON () Wed Jul 06 1988 19:22

    Does anyone else have a cat that snores!???

    Last night, as I was drifting off to lala land, I heard this noise.
    I listened and realized it someone(thing?) snoring. Now, I live
    by myself, well I live with Schnitzel. I listened a bit longer
    and realized it was coming from the foot of my bed. I looked down
    and there was a ball of grey fur, paws over face, snoring away to
    beat the band! So I decided if I wanted to get some sleep I best
    nudge the cutie......I got this look, or what I imagine was a look
    as it was dark, of total disgust followed by a stretch and a squeaky
    purr. Schnitz stood up, looked at me as if to say "You woke me
    up from a dream of which I was about to catch this mouse....", flicked
    her tail, turned around curled up and went back to sleep. Yup,
    she started snoring again......after a bit, she stopped. Wonder
    if she has hay fever :-) or if it's due to the heat.

    Honey snores all the time. He'll wake me from a sound sleep sometimes.
    And, boy, does he get upset if I wake him! He loves to sleep on
    his back, and whenever he does, it's snore city. Sure is loud!

    I love to watch him have a cat-dream....his little paws go a mile
    a minute and his teeth chatter...hee hee!

    Nikki snores too. We keep the cat bed in a corner of our room and
    whenever Nikki sleeps there I can hear him sawing wood.

    I don't have the heart to wake him up, though...

    Merlin snores sometimes.

    He also talks in his sleep occasionally. He's very cute when he
    does that.

      Oh, yes, my Ruby, who was 9 or 10 when he came to live with me,
    snores like crazy. It can be heard loud and clear from another room.
    It's so cute. He's usually got his paws around his face, with his
    face upturned when he's snoring. He's almost 18 now.
      My Tabby, may he rest in peace, snored as he got older, and he
    always dreamed. Long moans, "bird chasing sounds", and growls
    could be heard, accompanied with appropriate chewing motions, and
    muscle twinges. Sometimes it seemed like he was running in his sleep.

         You can add Loki to the list. He has latent asthma, and I'm
    told that those with asthma snore. (My husband has asthma and when
    he and Loki, who sleeps on my pillow, get going, I might as well
    move to Siberia :-) :-) !!) He also grunts when he changes position
    or stretches, which he does often during the night. *sigh* Fluffy
    and Bigfoot sleep out in the living room, so if they snore, at least
    *I* don't know about it :-) !

    Tristan snores too. It amuses me that this deaf kitty makes so
    much noise! If he could hear himself he'd probably wake himself
    up.  ;-)

1528.8Hannah snores and talksSKITZD::WILDETime and Tide wait for NormanThu Jul 07 1988 17:226
Add Hannah to the talking and snoring brigade...she sleeps on her own
pillow on the bed, and all night I get the "SKNZZZ..SNORT...MMRPT?..SKNZZZZZZ"
routine from her pillow. I think she has better dreams than I do.
I also have the dobie in her bed at the other end of the room doing her
stuff....the only time I wake up FAST is when the room goes silent. Those
two really get into duets sometimes.
1528.9Snore, Mumble, Twitch...TOPDOC::TRACHMANThu Jul 07 1988 17:552
    Lara snores too - snores ,mumbles, and twitches. I think she is
    dreaming of all the judges she's eaten over the past year!
1528.10PURRS, not snoresWITNES::MACONEThu Jul 07 1988 18:154
    oscar just purrs. All day, all night, in sickness, and in health.
    Purr, purr, purr, purr, purr.
    So, in an effort to minimize some of his purring, if it is nighttime,
    I'll pretend he's snoring! 8*)

    I'm sure glad to know other cats snore. Alex could wake the dead
    with his snoring. When he is awake, he purrs, when he is asleep,
    he snores. He only talks when he is hungry. Then the whole world
    knows he is hungry. He has a loud meow and his purring sounds like
    a motorcycle (a large motorcycle).  I always thought I had a very
    strange (but wonderful) cat. Glad to know he is somewhat normal.

1528.13Me too!SUBURB::TUDORKKate n' ITSun Jul 10 1988 14:204
    Tarot snores - a real window rattler! Isis talks in her sleep.
     When one is quiet the other is going. My husband snores as well.
     I'm thinking of sleeping elsewhere (they crowd me for room as well)
    :-)

    I'm so glad to see this subject. Jasper is 4 months old, and we
    just noticed him snoring the other day. I thought he was coming
    down with a cold, or had a stuffy nose. Now I know he's just becoming
    more and more human as he gets older!!

Munchkin snores too! So loudly, in fact, that when he and Mutu are
sleeping together, she will poke him to wake him up! Isn't it nice,
having stereo at night (husband & cat snoring)!

Regards,
Joan

1528.16Close those eyes when you are sleeping!JULIET::CORDESBRO_JOWed Aug 17 1988 17:4212
    Do any of your guys sleep with their eyes open?

    Kalliste will lay flat out with his eyes open but with third eyelids
    rolled up to cover his eyes. It is really erie.

    When we are at a show, I often have people come running over to
    me saying that Kalliste is having epileptic seizures! I go check
    on him and he is sound asleep, with both eyes open, third eyelids
    up, and his body is twitching. Of course, we know that he is just
    having a wonderful dream. 8^)

    Does he float above his bed and spin his head 360 degrees also???

    Chauncey sleeps with his eyes open when he lies on his back. It's
    usually accompanied by a strange snore, too. It's even funnier
    when his eyes aren't pointing in the same direction...gross!

    Sarah does this on occasion. The first time I walked in to my
    bedroom and saw her lying like a lump on my dresser, eyes staring
    straight ahead, I thought she'd gone to meet her maker!

    Eerie indeed!
