1473.0. "INTRODUCING STANLEY" by CLEVER::SULLIVAN () Mon Jun 20 1988 12:38

Stanley moved in June 11, he is a 3 month old seal point. He has
the bluest eyes I have ever seen in a kitten, Tishe (1 year old
female seal point) took to Stanley like a duck to water. Tisha
thinks Stanley is her kitten (no possible way) and Stanley thinks
Tisha is his mom. They are a joy to watch, I had to come back today
after three week vacation and hated to leave them. One thing that
is a surprise to me is that Tisha seems to have lost her kitten
ways since Stanley joined the family, is this par for the course
. I have lots to catch up on but I did want to introduce Stanley,
I will write more after all my catch up meetings.

Hi...welcome to Stanley and Tisha! It's not unusual for an older
cat to take a kitten as its own, even if the older one is a male!
My Honey (who is an altered male) took to little Chauncey right
away, mothering him, washing his face (and whatever else needed
to be cleaned...ugh...). They must feel such a sense of
responsibility! To this day, Chauncey prefers to get his mothering
from Honey instead of me, but Honey is still my 'baby'!

Two Seal Point Siamese. What are you going to do when they are
    older???

As to the older cat `growing up'. I have noticed that too with
my DejaVu. She was such a `tiny' little thing (so much smaller
than Lightning) and I always thought of her as `the baby'. Since
we brought Thunder into the family, Deja looks so much bigger.
She also isn't doing all her kittenish antics either. Boy, I miss
    them....

    Sandi (Lightning's, DejaVu's & Thunder's mom)

P.S. Deja will always be `the baby' to me.

1473.3WHY???CLEVER::SULLIVANMon Jun 20 1988 19:1411
Why ??? Is something going to happen when they get older that I
don't know about, are they going to get huge (like a lion) ? I
hope not, I have one more (bluepoint) coming the end of August,
I do so enjoy them, I am not much of a handler of the fur faces,
I am more an observer. I have an aquaintance that will not come
to visit since I got my first Siamese, that worked out so well that
I decided to get another (kind of joking, kind of not). I agree,
Tisha looks so big to me now that Stanley has come to live with
us. My family thinks I am going of the deep end with all these
cats, I find them a lot of company and lots of love also.

No I didn't mean that they were going to get huge like lions, just
    maybe like panthers. Only kidding

I just meant that two sealpoints will look so much alike that unless
you check the sex, you might have a hard time telling them apart.

    Sorry about that.

    Sandi (Lightning's, DejaVu's & Thunder's mom)

    P.S. I love them too.

    RE: -1

Sandi, you think sealpoints look alike, wait until Snooks gets older.
I won't be able to tell Snooks and Silver apart!

1473.6Black Look Alikes!EDUC8::TRACHMANWed Jun 22 1988 13:236
It's a trick figuring out who's who with three all black males!
The only way I can tell which is which is by their eyes & tails!
If I'm not fast enough to figure it out, and one of them is being
naughty, I just yell, who ever the h*ll you are, stop it! I
used to say that the name of my next kitty would be "Who Ever The
H&*ll You Are", but I didn't have the heart to do it.

I kind of felt I might have a problem telling them apart when they
are fully grown, I will just have to check for the fixtures in order
to know who I am talking to. Funny thing, Tisha has the typical
Siamese cry (like a baby) Stanley on the other hand has a loud piercing
cry. Will that change as he gets older ?

1473.8solving the identity crisisVAXWRK::SKALTSISDebWed Jun 22 1988 15:5916
    Elaine,

I can sympathize as I also have three black cats. Luckily, Niky
looks a lot different from the twins, so he is real easy to identify
(much larger, very bushy tail, and a cauliflower ear). Panther
and Eirene, however, look identical to the untrained eye, or in
dim light. They are about the same size and have a good deal of
siamease in them. Panther has double paws, and a more triangular face
than Eirene. Eirene's features are a bit softer and rounder, and her
eyes are usually open wider. Panther struts around the house with
his tail straight up; Eirene slinks around, stalking everything.
Unless of course they are zooming ... I finally gave up and decided
to put a blue collar on Panther and a pink one on Eirene. End of
    identity crisis.

I always thought that the boys looked very different! Lately, it's
becoming harder and harder to tell them apart when they are in
action doing something naughty. It's funny because Timmy weighs
14.5 lbs, Nikki - 10/11 lbs., and Alex weighs 12 lbs. All three
faces are VERY different, all three coats are very different, but
when they moving, I just can't tell. It's getting so now they
all answer and come to all three names!! Silly boys - maybe
they think that I have gone over the edge with so many cats
in the house - I know that my daughter thinks that!!
1473.10Stanley - 2nd babyWFOV12::GONCALVESThu Jun 23 1988 18:5314
    Eileen,

My parents have 2 seal point siameses - one female and one male.
You can definitely tell them apart. Sue, the female is much
    smaller than Sam, the male.

Don't worry. Stanley won't get that big - only if you feed him
an awful lot. Tisha has lighter colored eyes than Stanley.
I'm so glad that they are both getting along superbly.

Congrats!!! Thanks for letting me know. I really would like
to know how he's doing from time to time.

With four sealpoint Birmans I have found that the only time I have
trouble telling them apart is when they are walking on my face at
four a.m. In the dark they all look alike! Oh course they all
don't feel alike. I much prefer the dainty Joui (all seven pounds
of her - unpregnant that is!) to the dead weight of Kalliste (upwards
    of 12 pounds now).

There are subtle ways to tell the difference. Coat color, eye color,
gloving (on the Birmans), and personality (as in, Kyrielle would
    *never* do such and such).
