1464.0. "I need a hug..." by NOVA::M_DAVIS (Honk if you love geeses...) Tue Jun 14 1988 21:04

Only a fellow cat lover would appreciate what I have to say
so I've come to a friendly audience. Nine years ago a friend of
mine asked me to look after her two Siamese cats, Thunder and
Lightning. She had just had a baby and was frightened because the
cats were climbing into the crib... T&L were eight at the time
and are, <number crunch> now seventeen.... healthy, and still active.

I've recently moved in with my SO and life is wonderful all
the way around but I must give up my kitties... luckily, their original
mom is most willing to take them back...in fact, she said she never
got over the feeling that she was giving up her "kids".

Now I've not come to ask for suggestions about what to do with
the cats... they're going home after nine years and there is a certain
lovely closure in this saga. But I'm having difficulty dealing
with their impending departure...I'm taking them to Chicago this
Friday. I have come for hugs and because "I had to tell someone"
about the wonderful contribution these two furry_eunuchs <my pet
name for them> have made to my life... I'm going to miss them like
    the very dickens...

    I would...

Be thankful for all the good times...
Be glad that two families get/got to enjoy them...
Be pleased that they are going 'home' again...

    and

Be looking forward to getting another when the time is right!

How wonderful that they have two homes. How come you had to give
them up, tho? Not your new SO, I hope....

You must remember you have been bleesed with two very special
furry friends who are going to carry on "that tradition"
of giving the unconditional kitty kat love to your friends..
just like they gave to you.. like the saying goes.. what comes
around, goes around.. Pookie, Happy and I send BIG HUGS...

Consider yourself having 16 hugs! Gee, just think you can
now get 2, 3 or 4 kittens or a couple of older cats!!
What fun some new kids will be.

Many, many thanks to each of you who took time to enter a reply
in here or by mail. The kitties (I still call them that at 17)
are now safely delivered to their original Mom in Chicago...
they were a bit pop-eyed at the end of the trip but are generally fine...

And, thanks to you, their adoptive Mom is also generally fine...

    grins,
    Marge
