1337.0. "Missing moggy" by HEART::JUBB () Fri May 06 1988 09:19

Tilly (who answers to her name) is about 8 months old, and went
missing from her home in the Old Coley area of Reading on Wednesday
    night.

Appearance: Short-haired moggy, her shape resembles a Burmese (pointed
face and big ears). Tilly is dark chocolate brown,
with ginger flecks. Most noticeable are the ginger
tip to her tail, and a ginger splodge over her mouth.

Wearing: A reflective collar, which should have a "cat flap
magnet" attached to it (however she has been known
    		 to lose her magnet!).

Character: Very affectionate, and needs a lot of affection in
    		 return.

If you see her, please could you tell her to contact Alison either
by electronic mail (MARVIN::JUBB) or by telephone (ext 6779 at work,
581403 evenings and weekends). Tell her that Finbar-the-cat in
    particular misses her badly.

    Thank you

    Ali

Moggy - affectionate term for a cat, similar to mutt for a dog.

Splodge - a splash of colour, usual deep, from the sound made when
daubing big wet blobs of paint onto paper etc.

Have you tried calling the local radio stations? WBZ often allows
callers to describe a missing feline/canine friend on the air, or
an announcer can give a quick read...anything's worth a shot.

Do you know about leaving fliers in your neighbors mailboxes, on
telephone poles, _especially_ having neighbors check places a cat
can get accidentally locked in, like a garage, shed, or cellar?

Thank you all for your concern. You'll be pleased to know that
Tilly is now back home safe and sound!

I had a 'phone call from the local vet this morning, and have just
been to collect her. Needless to say Finbar was delighted to have
    his playmate back!

Apparently a lady had called in at the vets, saying that Tilly was
hers, but she wanted to dump her. The vet couldn't understand why
anyone should want to dump such a lovely moggy!!

Ali (who can't get over the relief)

PS: Moggy is affectionate slang for cat. It usually means a cat of
mixed parentage. What word would you use in the States? A

Is there a name in the US for a mixed breed cat? I call mine mutts,
which is especially effective when trying to get rid of IAMS salesmen
at cat shows, but that is more commonly applied to dogs.

So glad Tilly is back, but what on earth was going on with that
person who dumped her at the vet? Did she pick up Tilly on purpose?
Do you have to worry about this is the future?

1337.11The problem with Tilly...HEART::JUBBTue May 10 1988 15:4924
    Hi, Karens,

I have a suspicion I know why the woman did dump Tilly...

She is a very exotic-looking cat (although obviously not a pure
breed, because of her motley markings), and extremely affectionate.
So I can certainly understand someone taking a liking to her, and
feeding her to entice her in. (A friend of mine who used to live
in my road, once had a cat go missing for a week to an old lady
who was feeding it salmon!! May be the same lady?).

However, litterbox training for Tilly has been (and still is, although
it improves every week) an uphill problem. I suspect the lady
"adopted" her, and then she s**t somewhere antisocial....

Perhaps she didn't have my saintly :*) patience for going on "T**d
Patrol" every morning, to see if there is anything to clear up...

    Ali

PS: I first got into this notes file, when I was desperate for ways
to tease Tilly out of her bad habits. Some of the ideas have
        been very affective!
