1249.0. "Vet in the NH Area" by DSTR17::JACKSON (BEV JACKSON @VRO) Thu Apr 07 1988 14:08

I am going to be bringing two new siamese kittens home very shortly.
I know there are going to need their shots and regular visits to
the vet. Does anyone know of a good vet who will take good care
of my new babies but also not charge me my life's blood!?! I live
in Hudson, NH, so would like a vet somewhere in that area.

    Thanks.

    Bev

Dr. Brody on 102 is wonderful and so is all of his staff.
The facilities are VERY CLEAN and pleasant. His offices
    are next door to R & S carpet - Connie's and PETcetra
is just before his office. As to fees - he seems
competitive with most others. The quality of care
and his diagnostic expertise and the cleanliness,
their immediate response to emergencies, are worth
whatever their cost is. They are open until 8 pm
Monday - Friday - and have Saturday hours. There
are 3 vets there and all are excellent with cats.
I take all 13 of my kids there and have no complaints
at all. I think that out of all of the vets I have
used over the last 25 years, that Dr. Brody's
hospital rates the highest. If you need a Vet
at 3 o'clock in the morning, you will know you
have one - even if it's Saturday or Sunday.

The only thing is, that if you see Dr. Brody, no matter
whether your kitty has a name or not, he will call your
female kitty: Miss Cat and your male kitty: Mr. Cat.
Almost all of mine purr the whole time they are there
they have to take them over to the sink and run the
water to distract them from purring so they can listen
    to their hearts!!

1249.6Lots of good vets in SoNH!CLUSTA::TAMIRACMS design while-u-waitFri Apr 08 1988 15:5910
I take my boys to Ferry Road Animal Hospital and Dr. Kaas. He's
just terrific. He's very kind and gentle to the boys (and to me!).

I've also gone to Hudson Animal Hospital with my neph-cats and have
found both of the vets there to be terrific. And Dr. Brody is great,
    too!

Sounds like you've got a good choice of vets in our area!

Hudson Animal Hospital is great! Very clean, the vets are great
with my cat Bandit. He has a mean streak and loves to bite, but
that never seems to bother any of the vets, they just give him
alot of time to get aquainted with his surroundings and the vet
himself. Very understanding, gentle, and kind. Especially to
    the over anxious parent. :)

1249.8Further west please?AKOV88::BROWNThe more the merrier!Mon Apr 11 1988 14:457
Any suggestions for a vet a little further west in NH (like in
Wilton, NH)? I'd particularly like someone who has emergency
hours, but I'm more concerned with getting a competent doctor.
All recommendations greatly appreciated!

There is the Wilton Animal Hospital on the corner of 101 and 31.
The vets are Dr. Mackey and Dr. Merril (SP???) They are very good,
gental, caring and very expensive (but isn't everything...)

    Good luck

I recommend Dr. Lawson Jr., at House Call Veterinary Service on
Lowell Rd. in Hudson. I have had him visit Alex since we have been
in NH (about 2 yrs.) His prices are reasonable and the entire staff
really cares about your pet. I like the fact that they come to
your home. Alex hates cars! No question is too stupid to these
folks and they are glad to answer any question you have. They give
your animal TLC at all times. I was impressed at how they handled
Alex and his reaction to them. Alex is very shy around strangers
and usually hides in the bedroom. He will actually walk up to Dr.
Lawson when he (or his staff) comes to see him. Alex had to go
to the office for catherization from a urinary blockage and bladder
infection. When I went to pick him up, the Dr. gave him a last
"once over" and asked if I had any questions. They were GREAT.
Alex is now healthier than ever. He is like a large (14 lbs) kitten
    at approx 13 years old.

1249.11Vets in Weare, NH?CHARLT::AKIKemloWed Jul 20 1988 21:0314
Any recommendations for the North Weare, NH area? I'd like to find a really
good vet, one who enjoys cats (some vets have an obvious preference for
dogs), handles emergencies, and performs thorough exams.

We're about to move our 3 cats from Derry to Weare. (The Derry Animal
Hospital is very good, if anyone is interested in that area - our "family"
has gone there for 4 years.)

Kemlo, who's making this request for Roxxy (a real baby), Athena (aka
"Tubbslie" or "Fuzz-butt"), and Katza (the queen of cool)

P.S.
Thanks to all the entries in 1002, 1016, and 1180 for tips on moving cats...
