1226.0. "Framingham Humane Soc at Lechmere Mall" by PBA::DALEY () Tue Mar 29 1988 20:25

    On the lighter side -

Did anyone get to the Framingham Mall (otherwise known as the Lechmere
Mall) in Framingham over the weekend. The Framingham Humane Society
had a display there- brochures about spay/neutering, the cats and
dogs available from out shelters, and some general "care" info.
The FAHS will be there to pass out literature on this coming Saturday
    also.

There is a raffle for items donated by stores in the mall - some
    plush bunnies (toy), a 3'plant, a 15" diameter, 3/4" high chocolate
chip cookie donated by Cookies Cook'n. All proceeds go to the FAHS.

The mall asked us to bring live bunnies - which we did - with
"No fingers in the cage" signs attached. Both the kids and the
adults were ** very ** good about "fingers" altho we did keep a
constant watch. The rabbits were a good attraction - they
were cute, and VERY active, and didn't appear to care about the
audience. One message we did give out was that guinea pigs are a
preferable Easter gift for young children than
a rabbit, as a guinea pig is less bothered by stress, and won't get
as big as a rabbit. However, a guinea pig has a shorter life span.
(The rabbits we had were NOT for sale. When asked, we gave the name
    of the breeder.)

Alot of people were very interested in our literature and
we think our display was/is effective. Stop by if you happen to
be in the Mall next Saturday.
