1166.0. "Wanted: Barn managers" by TOMLIN::ROMBERG (Kathy Romberg DTN 276-8189) Mon Mar 07 1988 17:23

Does anyone out there in note-land have (or know where I might
find) a couple of barn cats that need a home?? Our resident barn
manager, Blue, passed away at the beginning of February, and the
local mouse population has discovered that he is no longer
     patrolling the premises.

	 Preferences are as follows:

	    Quantity : 2
Sex : male/it (being neutered is not a requirement
for being hired, however, if not neutered,
			   they soon will be.
	    Age : adolescent
Experience : some experience preferred. This would be
an ideal opportunity for apprentice mousers
looking to establish their own business.
Compensation : fed daily, regular entertainment in the form
of watching people ride, hugs and pets from
			   young children.

Scope of job : 29 stall horse barn in Littleton, Mass.
Lots of surrounding acreage for off-duty
			   prowling.

You want BARN CATS? I can get you BARN CATS!! A friend has a barn
in Lancaster, MA and I believe their current population of barn
cats is about 30. I'm not sure. I am SURE that they would like
to give you some. I can't guarantee the lovable aspect, but I have
never seen any sort of rodent on their premisis. Contact me if
    you want more info.

    Re: thirty cats

Uh, they're not altering these cats, is that why there are 30?

No, as soon as they see a new cat, they try and catch it and alter
it. Their problem is that everyone in town knows that they have
a barn and they have had quite a few people who decide that they
need a new litter of kittens. Either that, or people decide that
they don't want their cat anymore and they just very discretely
decide to drop it off at their barn.

The barn manager positions have been filled (we hope). On
Sunday we went and picked up 2 feral kitties. They may or may not
stick around. If not, I will contact people who mentioned other
     available cats.
