1099.0. "Breeding Himilayans?" by INDIAN::BOND () Fri Feb 05 1988 18:44

I have a Himilayan 1-1/2 year old female which I'll want to breed
some time this summer. We will have papers for her by then.

What will I need to know about breeding her? Diet? Timing (time
of year)? Reputable breeders? Going rates for breeding? For
    kittens?

    Any help would be appreciated.

Himilayans are great... Ours is nick-named "Purr-Ball"...

What do you want the result of the breeding to be???

Do you just want to produce additional pretty Himalayans??? Do
you want to improve the breed???

Himalayans are different from many other breeds, because besides
breeding them to other himalayans, you can also breed them to what
are called Himmy Hybrids, or you can breed them to persians. These
are called component breeds, and the offspring from any of these
breedings are registerable in most associations. In fact, in some
associations, your himalayan is actually a persian!!!

I know lots of himmy breeders....I was once a himmy breeder myself,
but have switched to persians and exotic shorthairs.

Send me mail or give me a call at DTN: 273-3187 or 617-264-3187
    outside.
