1039.0. "CONCORD CAT SHOW." by AIMHI::OFFEN () Wed Jan 13 1988 20:20

There is a cat show being held at the Highway Hotel in Concord,
    NH on Feb 27/28.

Could someone give us some info on it like

What types of classes will be shown.
What is the age limit for kittens.
Are there any special ones we should watch for.
    What is the entry fee.
What is the fee for coming to watch the show, which I plan to.
    Etc....

I have never (no, never) been to a cat show in my life. My husband
wasn't crazy about cats and always wanted us to do things together.
    His things.

Now that I am alone and no longer working seven days a week, I am
going to start doing my things.

I'll try to answer your questions - if I miss any, let me know.

Firstly, the Entry Clerk for the Concord Show is Barbara Beyer
Her phone number is: 603-882-8814. She can answer
any and all questions, especially purebred questions
and entry questions. If you have a question that I
haven't answered, don't hesitate to call her. If you
are entering this show and this is your first time
exhibiting your cat, don't forget to mention this
to the entry clerk - she can pass on much needed
             information.

This is a CFF (Cat Fancier's Federation) show - there will be
10 rings - 5 on Saturday and 5 on Sunday
There will be different judges each day.

If you purchase a Show Catalog (usually $3.00), this will help you
identify things like a certain cat's entry number - you can then
find that cat in the show hall by looking on the ends of
the rows of cages for a list of exhibitors benched in that row.
The catalog also will tell you what breeds are being exhibited
and it will give you the judging schedule for the day you are
visiting the show (this schedule is subject to change without
    notice!!)

Classes: purebred cats, kittens, and alters; and household pet
              cats and kittens.

purebred kittens may start showing at the age of 4 months
show - household pet kittens may also start showing at
the age of 4 months if the club holding the show allows
HHP kittens to enter - I am finding lately that many shows
are not allowing HHP kittens, but wanting HHPs to be
              eight months or older.

Some shows run an apparent purebred ring for household
pets. For instance, if you have a Siamese cat that is
not "show quality" but is "pet quality and not registered"
and you would like to show this cat, you could show it
in the apparent purebred household pet ring.

Keep in mind, that the closing date to enter the Concord show
is January 30th - or when the entry clerk has received 200 entries.

The admission to the show is:

    Adults - $3.50
    Seniors- $2.50
    Children $2.50

I will be running a fifty cent coupon in most
of the New Hampshire newspapers the Thurs,Friday, and Saturday
before the show date - that means the coupons will run
    February 25th, 26th, and 27th.

Time: 9:30 am to 6 pm both Sat & Sun

The entry fee is $30.00 for one day/one cat
                     $50.00 for two days/same cat.
These fees are for purebreds and HHPs.

There are Allbreed rings and specialty rings -
classes for longhair and shorthair cats.

Chalet is also doing a Parti color ring - any FEMALE cat with more
than one color can enter - cost for this ring is $3.00. The winner
of this ring will be named "Sadie Hawkins" and will be named on
    Saturday.

The Best of Best award will be awarded each day for kittens, cats,
alters and household pets. The Morris Trophy will be awarded to
the Household Pet with the highest cumulative score for the weekend.
King & Queen of HHP will be crowned on Sunday - The most popular
female and male cats in the show hall will be proclaimed
Daisy Mae and Li'l Abner on Sunday. The best theme decorated cage
will be selected and a prize awarded.

There will be vendors selling lots of kitty stuff - furniture, beds,
    shampoos, brushes, combs, food, etc.

There will also be a signup sheet for DIGITS on the Admission Table
when you enter the Show Hall - DIGITS exhibiting should sign it
and also add their entry numbers - visiting DIGITS maybe you all
can put yours names and time of day so other DIGITS can tell
if there is a chance that you are still in the show hall and
    you can meet.

    Hope this helps.

Ok, it's time to take a poll. Who's going to the cat show in Concord,
    NH. Who's showing?

I am going to show Tabbatha and Sterling Silver. This is my first
show so I am going to need LOTS of advice from our feline friends.
Is there anyone else going? Make sure you stop by my cat's cage
    and meet Tabby and Silver.
